The Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer Review

Today’s review is all about one of the first Charlotte Tilbury products that truly made me fall in love with the brand — the Wonderglow Primer. This was my introduction to Charlotte Tilbury many years ago, and it’s been a permanent fixture in my makeup collection ever since.

Even though it’s been around for quite a few years now, I still see plenty of people comparing it to the newer Hollywood Flawless Filter. So, I thought it was time to revisit this cult favourite and share exactly why I’ve used it for so long, what makes it special, and how it performs in my everyday makeup routine.

Packaging

Let’s start with the packaging — because first impressions do matter! The Wonderglow Primer comes in a soft, squeezable plastic tube that’s simple yet perfectly in keeping with Charlotte Tilbury’s signature aesthetic: chic, elegant, and practical. It may not have the luxury glass packaging of some of her other products, but it’s lightweight, travel-friendly, and surprisingly sturdy. I’ve taken it on countless trips (it’s been stuffed into makeup bags and thrown in suitcases) and it’s never leaked or cracked. Function meets glamour — exactly what you want from an everyday essential.

How I Use It

Over the years, I’ve found a few different ways to wear this primer depending on my mood and how much glow I’m after:

  1. Under Foundation: My most-used method. I apply a light layer after my moisturiser to create a radiant base. It gives that lit-from-within glow that subtly shines through my foundation.

  2. Mixed with Foundation: When I want a lighter, more dewy finish, I mix a drop of Wonderglow directly into my base. It softens full coverage formulas and helps everything blend beautifully.

  3. On Its Own: On “no-makeup” days, I wear it alone to even out my complexion and make my skin look naturally healthy and bright.

No matter how I use it, the result is always the same — luminous, smooth, and effortlessly fresh-looking skin.

How It Works with Other Products

One of the best things about the Wonderglow Primer is how well it plays with others. I wear a lot of layered products — skincare, foundation, bronzer, powder — and some primers just don’t hold up. This one, however, works beautifully with everything.

I’ve used it under stick foundations, lightweight tints, and full-coverage bases, and it’s never caused pilling or uneven texture. It smooths the skin, boosts radiance, and helps my makeup last longer without feeling heavy or greasy. That’s exactly what you want when you’re spending this kind of money on a primer.

Why I Keep Coming Back to It

As someone who reviews a lot of products, I’m constantly switching things up. But no matter how many glow primers I try, I always find myself returning to Wonderglow. It’s just reliable. It makes every foundation look better, and it gives my skin a healthy sheen without looking oily or overly dewy. I’ve tried so many similar formulas that promise the same thing, but this one consistently delivers. It’s become one of those products I instinctively reach for every morning — especially when I want my makeup to look flawless and fresh all day long.

Value for Money

At around £45, it’s definitely a luxury primer, but in my opinion, it’s worth it. I get around seven months of daily use from one tube, which is impressive compared to other high-end primers like the Benefit Porefessional. Plus, it’s a multi-use product — it works both as a glow primer and as a standalone skin enhancer. For that reason alone, I think it’s great value if you’re looking for a radiance boost in your daily routine.

Would I Recommend It?

I always think carefully before recommending a high-end product, but I can confidently say this is one I’d suggest to anyone who loves glowing, hydrated skin. If your complexion feels dull, dry, or in need of a pick-me-up, this will give you that instant luminosity without glitter or shimmer. However, if you have very oily skin, I’d recommend testing a sample first — you may prefer something a little more mattifying.

Final Thoughts

The Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer has earned its place as one of my forever favourites. It’s simple, reliable, and gives an instant “good skin day” effect — every time. It makes makeup application smoother, boosts radiance, and looks beautiful on its own. If you’ve been curious about it, let this be your sign to try it for yourself. I’ve repurchased it more times than I can count, and I can confidently say it’s one of those products that truly lives up to the hype.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts — have you tried Wonderglow? Or are you team Hollywood Flawless Filter? Let’s chat in the comments below!
