To help spread a little happiness today, I am going to share 10 things that make me happy. As I have mentioned, I have OCD and anxiety. As much as I strive to be a positive person, I find it really hard. To help me be more optimistic, I have started journaling. In my journal, I not only express my feelings,
I share some affirmations and the things that I am grateful for. Even though I don’t want to share too much because it is personal. I do want to share the things that make me feel uplifted and incredibly happy. These are the things that get me though the day. The things that put a smile on my face. The things that make me feel utterly like myself. Here are the things that make me happy.
Getting Home From Work
Even though here on my blog I have said I love my blog. It is true and I honestly do. However, I don’t think that there is anything better than getting in from work. I take off my makeup, put on my comfy clothes, walk the dog and cook a wonderful dinner. Sometimes my working days may stretch a little longer than intended, but there is something so wonderful about getting in and decompressing in my happy place. I adore it nothing will ever compare for me.

Ticking Something From My To Do List
I live my life by me to do lists. I honestly don’t wish that this was the case. I have OCD and I need to have structure through every single moment of my day. For my day to day tasks, I have a list of every baby step that I have to do. Ticking something off this makes me feel like a queen. I use the Microsoft To Do app and every time I complete something, it makes a satisfying little dinging noise. I honestly life for that little noise and it keeps me going.

Bettering Myself
In what I do in my full time job and here with my blog, I always strive to be better. It can be hard to do when you are so busy, but it is worth it. I always take time to try and improve myself in some way or another. I think that there is something so rewarding in committing to your education and you as a person. I adore it and the pride in completing the job afterwards is amazing. I recommend everybody to set themselves some goals about what they want to do. Stick with them and get a feel for the absolute pride of a job well done.

Spending Time With My Dog
My dog is without a doubt my baby. I have the worlds laziest and most snuggly Golden Retriever named Martha. I am always busy and she is a fiercely independent dog. However, every now and again I feel like the stars align and she wants to spend time with me and I have a gap in my diary. Normally, she stands at the bottom of the stairs and she cries until I follow her up. She then jumps on my bed and hours’ worth of cuddles start from there. Nothing quite makes me feel as good as cuddling a Golden Retriever.

Having A Drink With Friends
Seeing my friends is one thing, seeing them after a drink is another. After the past couple of years, we still have making up to do. I think that each time we see each other now; it is so much more special. As much as it pains me to admit, we are all pushing 30 now and we don’t have as much spare time to see each other. However, when we do see each other, we make sure that we are having a blast. Normally far too many bottles of gin are consumed and the headache the next morning is so worth it.

Sitting Outside on a Summers Evening
Summer evenings are very few and far between here in the UK. We probably get a few weeks of the year where it is actually hot. Something that I do live, is sitting in the garden all evening when it has been wonderful and warm. There is just something in the air here in Britain when it has been a warm day. There is a BBQ smell mixed with sun cream and beer. It just puts me in such a wonderful mood watching the sun go down. I cannot wait for more warm evenings.

Meeting New People
Before the lockdown, I thought that I was an introvert. I was wrong. I thrive and seek inspiration from meeting new people. I don’t know what it is that happened, but it was like suddenly a flick switched. I now love meeting new people. Especially after a glass of wine because I really do think I am my funniest self after a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I just love the mystery about meeting somebody new and learning all about them. I also love that with new people, they don’t know all of your history. New people is a fresh start, I love that.
Â
Feeling Good In My Own Skin
I have been working hard on myself over these past few years. I think that just because of my nature, I am not an overly confident person. This carries over into how I see myself in the mirror too. However, every now and again I will do my morning workout, stand in front of the mirror and I am happy with where I am. Honestly, I never thought that I would be happy in my own skin, but I am here and it is wonderful. It isn’t even how I look; it is how it makes me feel.

Having a Lazy Day
For me, my days off from work are very few and far between. I work full time, blog on the side and I work freelance. If I am not in the office for my job, I am on my laptop whittling away. The more I work, the more I earn, it is that simple. However, every now and again I need to take some time. I sit down on the sofa all day long with my doggo and I watch hours and hours of ghost adventures. I love having these days and I feel grateful I can have them every now and again.
Creating Content
I feel so lucky that in this life I have found something that I truly love doing. For a long time before I found blogging, I didn’t know what to do with my time. Having a blog and writing content makes me channel my energy into something positive. There is something so wonderfully special about sitting down, writing some content and seeing it come to live on my website. I never thought this is something that I would do and I adore it. I would advise everybody to set themselves up with a site of their own!
