This past couple of years has almost killed me because I am obsessed with travelling. When I was younger, travel was the thing that my father would do with us. We may not see him for a long time due to him working. However, we always went on the best vacations. From that moment, it was the thing that I loved and looked forward to the most. As soon as I got my first pay packet from work, I booked a holiday and went away on my own.
I just think that there is something so enriching for the soul about getting away from where you live. You see different cultures, try different foods and experience different ways of life. In this blog post, I am going to share some of my top 5 places around the world and why I love them so much.
Rome.
There is no doubt in my mind that I need to start this post by talking about Rome. As some of you guys may know, I am a history nerd. I have a degree in ancient history and I love it. Because of that, Rome always intrigued me. I wanted to go and see everything first hand. From the moment that I stepped foot in Rome, I knew that it was my home away from home. Every given chance now, I get a flight back. Even if it is for a long weekend away on my own. The culture, the people, the food, the heat. Everything just sets me on fire and I feel so alive when I am there.
Â
New York.
I feel like this is going to be the most cliché list of places, but I need to talk about New York. There is so much that I love about New York, but the architecture and the fashion is what I am there for. I have seen all of the sites and done that now. When I go there now, it is a chance for me to throw on my fanciest outfits, go shopping in divine stores and eat the most delicious food. I think I first went to New York when I was only 4 and it is one of our go to places when we need a little time away in a more metropolitan place.
Â
Maldives.
The only beachy type of place that I am going to mention is the Maldives. We went here on our honeymoon and it was just everything that we dreamed of. It was the laziest break that I have had away from home in a long time. I needed that time to go away, relax and switch off with my husband. We just laid around all day, went snorkelling and ate the best food. Not to mention that the backdrop of the Maldives is like nothing that I have ever seen before. To say that it is perfect is not even close enough to how I feel when I am there.
Â
Florence.
As I have already told you guys, I love Rome, but I adore Florence. I got the train here from Rome one week when I headed there on my own. As soon as I saw the Duomo, I was hooked The culture and history is phenomenal in Florence. I would say that it has a similar pull to Rome, however it has many less tourists if you go there at the right time of the year. My biggest goal in life is to have a holiday apartment in Florence, overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. There is nothing quite like having a glass of wine and watching the water. I adore it.
Â
Paris.
I feel so fortunate that from here in the UK, it only takes a couple of hours on a very comfortable train to get into the heart of Paris. I don’t even know how many times I have been now because it is just so convenient to go to. I adore everything about Paris. The monuments are divine, the buildings are like art and the culture is wondrous. The only thing that I do struggle with Paris can be the people. Some of the true Parisians that hate that the city has turned into a tourist attraction despise English people. And they let it be known. However, I try to brush that off and enjoy the romance and fashion that the city offers!
I hope that you guys liked this blog post and reading about my top 5 places around the world. As I have mentioned above, travel really does sooth the soul for me. It doesn’t matter where it is, as long as I am experiencing something new, I am more than happy. Even though, in some instances, it doesn’t have to be a new thing. For example, I have been to most regions of Italy now around 10 times.
Purely for the fact that I love the lazy Italian lifestyle and it brings me back down to earth and makes me relax. I would love to hear from you guys. Please leave me a comment below. Let me know some of your top 5 places around the world and why you love them so much!
