It is time for a new blog post, and this is all about my home. To be exact, this is about the biggest impact changes that we made to our home. When we first got the keys to our house in 2019, I thought that it was perfect. I didn’t think that there was that much to change, and I was head over heels. Needless to say, the longer we were in the house, the more I found to change. We are now almost 3 years in this home and hell of a lot has changed. With every single small improvement, I see so much more potential, and I fall in love again. So, I thought that for this post, I would share the biggest impact changes. These may not have been the largest of jobs, but they really changed the vibe of the house for the better.
Converting the garage.
In our home, we have a huge internal garage. That means that on the ground floor as we moved in, over 60% of the ground floor space was an unused garage. We decided to do something about that. In the end, we decided to go for a full conversion. The space is now so large, cosy and more importantly rustic. This is my movie space. I like to keep the thick and heavy curtains drawn and it is where I reside in the winter months. There is nothing like a Harry Potter or Marvel marathon in your own personal movie theatre. I am just so glad that we deciced to go ahead and do this!

Finishing the garden.
For the longest time, the garden was a forgotten part of our home. We wanted to get the inside of our home as closed to finished as possible before making an effort with the garden. This worked well until it reached the warmer summer months last year. Lockdown was still a thing, but you could begin to have people around to sit in the garden. Naturally, I wanted my garden to be acceptable for my guests, so a revamp was needed. Only basic things were done, such as fitting AstroTurf, buying new furniture, etc. It really helped th space!

Creating my dream dressing room.
I think that most girls as they are growing up dreams of having something like a dressing room. I know that I certainly did. There is just something so magical about having a space that is completely my own. As this was a space that only myself used, I left it until last on my list of priorities. However, once I completed the space, I fell in love and wished that I did it so much sooner. I have everything that I love on display, a space to get ready and somewhere decorated to my true tastes. Honestly, I am the envy of everybody that I know with this space and I secretly love that!

Adding a chimney breast.
In our lounge, there was an enormous blank wall. We tried to put our TV near it, but the wall just dwarfed anything that was there. We toyed with the idea of adding wallpaper, however we thought that because the wall is that large, it would overwhelm the rest of the space. In the end, I decided that I wanted to add some dimension by incorporating a chimney breast. In the centre of the room, we added a large chimney breast. Either side, we added rustic shelves and now it looks like it really belongs there.

Adding original characters into the home.
I have said it before and I will say it again, our home was boring. The house that we bought was around 13 years old when we first bought it. Even though our life was made so much easier in some respects. In other areas, it was much harder. A prime example of this is that new builds have no character. The rooms are very big and empty. There are no original features or the things that I love. Such as panelling, dado rails, coving, etc. All of the things that are traditional and that are prominent in so many of the older houses in the area where I live.
I hope that you guys liked this blog post. Over the past couple of years, I have shared some of these things. However, I thought that it would be good to put them all together and share them in one collective blog post for you. Buying a house really is one of the most difficult things that you can do. However, I think that it is by a country mile one of the most rewarding things. I would love to hear from you guys. What do you think about some of the changes that we have made? Do you own your own house? If so, what are some of the big changes that you have made to your own space. I am always looking for new inspiration and for new additions that I can add to my home.
