The CeraVe Facial Moisturiser Review

Like so many people, 2020 was the year I fell down the TikTok rabbit hole — and one brand that seemed to be on everyone’s lips was CeraVe. I’d heard of it in passing before (mostly because it’s sold on ASOS), but I’d never paid much attention. Suddenly, it was all over my feed. Dermatologists, skincare enthusiasts, and influencers were raving about it, so naturally, I did what any beauty lover would do — I went online and bought as much as I could get my hands on.

One product that stood out straight away was the CeraVe Facial Moisturiser, and after months of using it, I can safely say it’s earned a permanent spot on my bathroom shelf.

What Difference Has It Made to My Skin?

My skin is generally clear, but it’s also a complicated mix of oily and dry — shiny around my nose, but flaky across my forehead. I wanted something that would balance both, and this moisturiser has done exactly that. Since using it, my dry areas feel softer, smoother, and more supple, while the oily zones seem noticeably less shiny throughout the day.

It’s rare to find a product that manages to hydrate without tipping the scales toward grease, but CeraVe has somehow nailed it. My skin looks healthier and more even, and I’ve noticed that my makeup applies more smoothly too.

How It Works with Other Skincare

Like many of us, I’ve developed quite a skincare collection over the past year — partly from interest, partly from having too much time indoors. One of my biggest pet peeves, though, is when products don’t layer well and end up pilling. Thankfully, the CeraVe Facial Moisturiser plays beautifully with everything else I use — from serums and oils to SPFs and makeup primers.

No weird textures, no balling up — just a smooth, hydrated base every single time. For someone who loves skincare layering, that’s a major win.

Value for Money

Let’s talk price, because that’s one of the biggest selling points. I’m used to splurging on skincare — my shelves have seen everything from Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream to La Mer The Cream (both of which cost more than I’d like to admit). So, imagine my surprise when I found a moisturiser that performs beautifully for under £10.

At around £9 a bottle, this feels like an absolute steal. The formula is fragrance-free, packed with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, and feels genuinely high-quality on the skin. If you’re looking for a simple, effective moisturiser that won’t drain your bank account, this is it.

Would I Replace My Other Moisturisers with This?

I’ll be honest — I’m a hydration junkie. My bathroom cabinet could probably moisturise a small village, and I don’t plan to give up my heavier creams any time soon. However, I’ve found that CeraVe fits perfectly into my everyday routine. It’s lightweight enough for daily wear, especially under makeup, but still nourishing enough to keep my skin feeling cared for.

When my skin needs something richer (usually in winter), I’ll still reach for my luxury favourites. But for everyday comfort and balance, this CeraVe moisturiser has become my go-to.

Would I Recommend It?

Absolutely. I never recommend products lightly — if I’m telling people to spend their money on something, I want to be sure it’s genuinely worth it. After six months of consistent use, I can say with confidence that the CeraVe Facial Moisturiser delivers. It’s suitable for almost every skin type, from oily to dry, and it works brilliantly as part of both a morning and evening skincare routine. It’s simple, effective, and fuss-free — which is exactly what most of us want from a daily moisturiser.

Overall, I think this product is a gem. It’s affordable, dependable, and gives results that rival moisturisers ten times the price. I’ll definitely be exploring more from CeraVe soon — if the rest of the range is as good as this, I might just have found my new skincare staple.
