As I have shared many times before here on my site, I am somewhat of a homebird. It takes a crowbar to tear me away from my home. Many times I have shared that I am so proud of the home that we have created and when I am not at work, I want to make the most of the space that we have created.

Even when I am just at home, I try to romanticise my time in the space. Because of that, I have a few things in my arsenal that I use and do in order to ramp up the cosy factor and have a perfect day at home.

Apple TV.

I don’t know why, I have some kind of issue with live TV. To be honest, I think it is just the boring task of trying to scroll to find something to watch. My Apple TV always comes and saves my asses. I have all of the shows and movies that I have bought over the years which are my favourites. Plus, I have all of the apps that I could need like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and many more. Key apps that help me out when I need a lazy day.

Curtains closed.

When in doubt, shut the world out. That makes me sound like I want to live in a cave and shut the world away. To a degree, I guess that is right. But on a true relaxation day at home, I do want to block most of the outside noise out. We have an incredible snug room in our home, so one of the first things that I will do is head on in there and shut out all daylight. I can then cosy down, nap all day and lose all sense of time.

Heated blanket.

Yes, I know that I am sharing this post with you in June, but there is no denying my love for a heated blanket. I am a pretty cold person. I have even being known to put a hoody on while away on a Mediterranean holiday. With that said, I live in the UK and even during the warmer summer months, you still get those evenings where there is a chill in the air. Whenever there is a night like that, I am prepared with my amazing, heated blanket. An essential without a doubt.

Comfort TV shows.

You will know what I mean by this. My comfort TV shows are the programmes that I can watch time and time again. I know that they aren’t going to trigger my anxiety and I know everything that is going to happen. For me, this is Vampire Diaries, The Office, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Taskmaster and so many more. The shows that put a smile on my face and that I know inside and out. I don’t want anything new when I am having a day like a cosy day!

Sugary food and drink.

I stay away from sugar most of the time. Mainly to try and help with my PCOS and managing the symptoms. But with that said, when I am having a day that is all about self-love and relaxation, I am going to eat all of the sugar. We have a certain out of reach cupboard in our home that houses all of the treats and when I am needing a cosy day at home, I raid that thing like I am looting. It is needed every now and again.

Cuddles with my dog.

On a day like today, cuddles with my dog are the only thing that I want. Don’t get me wrong, cuddles with my kid are great, but they certainly don’t hang around and lay on me like my dog does. If you have never been on the receiving end of a Golden Retriever cuddle, then you probably wont know what I am on about. Just know that they are bloody special and an essential for me when I am having a cosy day at home.

Candles lit.

I am the kind of person that loves to buy candles, but then setting them alight is something else. I just hate the thought of burning money, especially if they are my boujee ass candles. But, on those comfortable days, you can bet your bottom dollar that I am going to be setting those little bastards on fire. Don’t get me wrong, I often light that many that it is often overwhelming and it triggers my asthma, but it’s for the vibes!

A good book.

For me, a good book is without a doubt a smut book. I don’t even know what proper literature is at this stage. I like to get comfortable and read a good, old cheesy book that ends happily ever after. My husband can always tell when I am onto a winner because I will just smiling at my Kindle. It is what I need when it is a day for nothing but relaxation and I absolutely adore finding a good book that I am obsessed with.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about my cosy day at home essentials. Don’t get me wrong, I can have a bloody amazing day at home with nothing more than my sofa and a good book. But taking those few extra steps helps me to become completely relaxed and I know that I don’t have to move all day long.

Be sure to leave me a comment below. Let me know what you think about the things that I have shared. Do you have any other essentials for a cosy day in your own home?
