Today it is time for a new beauty review, and this is going to be all about the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand. I was actually writing another post the other day and I wanted to link to this product, and I couldn’t believe that I didn’t already have a review live for this item.
It was a no brainer that I had to rectify the wrong and finally sit down, get together my thoughts and share with you whether or not I think you guys should invest in the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand, an item that has been a cult favourite online for many years.
Why I wanted this product.
If you have visited my site before, you will know that there was a time when I was Charlotte Tilbury crazy. When I was really getting into makeup and working towards becoming a freelance makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury was an emerging brand and I spent far too much money trying to buy her entire makeup line. When this Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand was first released it was the same story. I saw it, her marketing made it look incredible and I knew that I had to get me hands on it and put it through its paces for myself.
Â
The packaging.
When this was first released, I think it was the packaging that really enticed me because I hadn’t seen anything like it before. I liked that the product was in a tube and to be honest, I thought that the sponge tip like the Maybelline Eye Erase Concealer was rather special. I thought that it would make application a piece of cake. And to a degree I do agree with that. However, after using this for a long time, there are three things that I am not particularly fond of. The first is the texture of the sponge. The second is that it is unsanitary. And the third is that a few of these that I have purchased have all had issues with leaking.
Â
The shade range.
For this product, there are only two shades available. One as you can imagine is for lighter tones and the other one is marketing for deeper skintone. However, could you say that those two shades can account for every skin colour and undertone? I would have to argue that you can’t. Especially for those much deeper, richer skintone, the two colours are simply not enough. And I truly do feel that if more shades were going to be released all of these years later, it would be seen as a token gesture just to tick an inclusivity box, as those shades were not in the original launch of the item.
Â
The consistency.
I would say that this is a rather liquidy, cream kind of product. I know that may be strange. But in comparison to creamy concealers on the market, I think that this is a much thinner and slicker conversation. However, that isn’t a negative. Generally speaking, I am a fan of a creamier consistency, but I could always make this work for me. Plus, with how the packaging is, I know that you need a slightly thinner consistency to make it flow and apply smoothly.
Â
How it applies and blends.
I would say that this is one of the areas that I really thought made the product fall down. If I am to apply this Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand, if I leave it on the skin for ever so slightly too long, it seems to set down and becomes hard to blend. Then when I need to work harder to blend the product, I can feel like it disturbs the product and my coverage beneath. However, no matter how I have used this product and how it sets down, I can always get it to work for me. Never get me wrong, I never have a makeup meltdown with this.

Would I recommend?
Even though I don’t have any direct complaints about this product, I do want to be very honest and say that I do think there are some amazing and comparable products out there now. I don’t want to endlessly mention this one item, but my favourite cream contour/bronzer over the last few years has been the Elf Camo Concealer in a deep shade and I would honestly still pick the Elf over the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand. I think these days we are really blessed with so many amazing and affordable items that are worth looking into.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand. This was once a fantastic item in my collection. When it was first released, I thought it was a rather new concept and I couldn’t wait to pick it up. However, now as I sit and look at the other cream contour items that I own, I find myself picking other items over this.
If you guys do want to check this out, I will add a link to this below. Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this before or would you like to get your paws on it in the future?
