I bloody love TV. Because I have such an over active brain, I need something to give me a release. That for me is TV series. However, because I do love TV, I have a set number of series that I watch continuously because my anxiety cannot deal with cliff-hangers. Today, I am going to be sharing with you my favourite TV shows.
These are without a doubt the shows that I watch over and over again. I love all of the characters, the narrative and just about everything else in between. Without further ado, here are my 10 favourite TV series.
The Office.
There is absolutely no way that I could write this post without mentioning The Office. I can remember first watching this around a decade ago. I watch this at least once the entire way through on an annual basis. I have always wanted to find my own Jim because he is just so incredibly sweet and romantic. My favourite thing though is that the lovely romantic love story between Jim and Pam is sandwiched between absolute silliness and so much upbeat humour. Forever my favourite TV shows!
Parks and Recreation.
Treat Yo Self. If you are looking for a show to watch that doesn’t go on forever and a day like The Office, watch Parks and Recreation. The main thing that I love about this show is that it never really runs that deep. The narrative is just lovely and easy going, which is what I adore. Every single character is phenomenal, but I think that I am most like a mix of April and Ron. Take no shit, but eat loads of bacon in the meantime. I think this is back on Netflix now, give this a watch!
Â
Schitts Creek.
I stumbled upon Schitts Creek completely by accident. I was having a wobble with my mental health, so I put myself down in the snug. Closed all of the windows, shut the door on myself and just put the first thing on Netflix that I could find. Needless to say, by the time I was a couple of episodes in, I was hooked. I really think that I can see a little bit of myself in every single character. Not to mention that the last series and the finale is a work of art!
Â
Car Share.
Before Peter Kay disappeared into the ether, he did the show Car Share. This is a cheesy and funny show that revolves around people commuting to work. Such a simple premise, but it just works so well. It is all about being in the car with one another, listening to the radio and having a laugh. I love this because it is a really great feel good kind of show. Easy watching that you don’t have to focus on and I adore that.
Â
Will and Grace.
If you have not watched Will and Grace, you do not know what you are missing. My mum used to watch this show when I was growing up and it quickly became a favourite. The show might be called Will and Grace, but to me it is all about Jack and Karen. Those characters really do make the show and it is fantastic. There are certain episodes of this show which are completely bonkers, but I think that every now and again you need that silliness!
Â
Friends.
Could I be anymore obvious? There is nobody in their mid-twenties or thirties that does not love friends. The first episode of Friends was released the year that I was born. I grew up watching it with my mum. Every Thursday evening on Channel 4 a new episode would be released and I remember it vividly to this day. It is so nostalgic for me and I adore how safe and familiar it is to me.
Â
Gavin And Stacey.
I think that I was in my early teens when Gavin and Stacey first broadcast on TV, I loved it at the time. The older that I have got, the more I love it. I feel like as you hit different stages of your life, the more you can relate to what you are going through. Not to mention that it really is James Cordon at his finest before he became all stiff and American. Just watch this because it can make me howl with laughter!
Â
Sex And The City.
And I had to wonder, were we wrong to love Sex and the City so much? As I get older, I see so many issues with Carrie as the main character. She is a shitty friend and horrible to Aidan. That aside, I watch this show for the fashion. It was watching Sex and the City growing up that really engrained within me the love of Manolo Blahnik heels. Not to mention that some of the other characters in the show are phenomenal, like Samantha, so I watch it for them!
Â
Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Do I even have to say anything when it comes to Brooklyn Nine-Nine? I think that this is one of those rare shows where you truly love every single character. Normally, there is always one person on a show that I cannot be bothered with, but I love all of these. I personally think that I can see hell of a lot of Rosa, Amy and Gina in myself. The take no shit, geek and sarcastic ass is all within me. I watch this pretty much all of the time!
Â
Taskmaster.
Taskmaster will certainly be a very British programme, but I need to recommend that everybody watch it. This is not a scripted TV show; it is a little like a gameshow that goes on for around 10 weeks. It is a group of comedians that are put into a whole frenzy of situations and they compete against each other. I have never laughed as much at a show, as I do at Taskmaster. It is on 4OD, please do check it out for yourself and have a giggle!
I hope that you guys liked this blog post and getting to read about some of my favourite TV shows. As I mentioned above, I love watching all of these. They put me in the best of moods and I know that I will continue to watch them on rotation for many years to come. As always, I would love to hear from you guys. Please leave me a comment below and let me know some of your favourite TV shows. I will have to check them out for myself!
