If you read my site often, you may see my copious amounts of travel themed blog posts. It may come across like I do everything that I can in order to flee from the UK, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The one good thing that came out of the Coronavirus many years ago was that it removed the option to fly and instead, my husband and I decided to see more of the UK.
In this post today, I am going to share with you some of the places that we fell in love with and that we have visited on multiple occasions since we regained the luxury to head overseas.
Cotswolds.
The first time I visited the Cotswolds, I knew that I was in trouble. Even though I love Yorkshire where I live and being close to my family, I feel like there is something drawing me to the Cotswolds. I think everything about the place just screams that it is in alignment to me and who I am. The houses, farm shops, open fields, rustic pubs, winding roads. Everything about the place simply captivated me and I was hooked from the very first moment there. It is a dream to have a place there one day, but due to family ties, Yorkshire will always be our base.

Loch Lomond.
When I was younger, my dad was married to a woman that came from Scotland. Because of that, we would often head up to Glasgow to see her family. At least once a month, if not more. When we were up there, my dad used to try and make the most of our time there by showing us different areas. One place that he took my sister and I to many times was Loch Lomond. So, when my husband and I were deciding where to visit in Scotland, it was one of the first places on my list. One of the things that I truly love about Loch Lomond is the serenity that you feel when you are there. It is something I think everybody should experience.
Â
Jurassic Coast.
You guy should know me by now and know that I am absolutely obsessed with all thing’s dinosaurs. So, when we wanted to plan a trip down south, this was the first place that I suggested. Don’t get me wrong, we headed there for many more reasons other than I wanted to stroll down the beach and discover a never seen before fossil. But it was a massive added benefit to heading down there. What we saw was truly beautiful. I loved everything about our trip to the south coast. Where we stayed was picturesque, the places we ate were stunning and we fell on incredibly lucky with the weather.

Norfolk Broads.
A decade ago, you couldn’t have tried to convince me that going to the Norfolk Broads on a boating holiday would be a good idea, but here I am raving about it. My husband and I wanted to go on a trip away from home where we could take the dog. It was around September time and I kept seeing ads come up on my phone for the Broads. I booked it on a whim and completely fell for it. Travelling up and down the water, stopping at different pubs, howling with laughter as we got tipsy on deck. We loved every single moment of it. I seriously don’t think that you can beat golden hour on the Norfolk Broads. It felt almost heavenly with the beautiful warm light.
Â
Anglesey.
It wasn’t all that long ago that my husband and I began to think about all of the places that we had visited in the UK, and we hadn’t ticked off anywhere in Wales. Don’t get me wrong, we had both been to Wales over the years, but mainly Cardiff for different sporting reasons. We both decided that after hearing rave reviews we would take a trip to Anglesey after visiting Cheshire. Needless to say, it did not disappoint. I don’t think that I have ever seen such beautiful beaches and for some reason I didn’t think that we would find them in North Wales. It was a very quiet trip, but just what we needed. We can’t wait to head back.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about the places that I love here in the UK. We really are blessed on this small island with so many places. Plus, as I reside in Yorkshire, I feel like I could make it to all of these places within relative ease compared to if I lived anywhere else which was less central to the country.
I want to hear from you guys below in the comments. What do you think about the places that I have mentioned. Do you have anywhere that you love to travel in the UK?
