You guys should know by now that I am a huge fan of organisation and planning. It is like crack to me and I will never tire of having my ducks in a row. For me the need for this comes from my OCD. If I don’t have clear plans and intentions, my mind goes into overdrive and panic can set in.
In today’s post I am going to share with you how I stay organised, some of the steps that I do and the tools that I use. That may then help you guys to take control of your life, get things in order and feel like a weight has been lifted.
Keep clear lists.
For everything that I have whirling around my brain, I like to keep lists. It could be things that I need to do, worries that I currently have or anything else in between. By putting my thoughts on a list and getting them out of my head, I end up feeling worlds better. I tend to keep my notes within Google Notes, so that I can see them on all devices and they all sync up and update accordingly.
Â
Use Microsoft To Do.
If you like planning and organising, you need to download Microsoft To Do and play around on it. I use this app for just about everything in my life. I have all of the reoccurring tasks that I do in my life listed, e.g., cleaning the house, servicing my car, writing blog posts. Then on each of the tasks I can add them to a folder to categorise them and from there I can set them to reoccur if/when I tick them off. This helps to keep on track with everything that I have going off in my life.
Â
Utilise my calendar.
My Google calendar which syncs across all of my devices is my lifeline. Sometimes, I can get overwhelmed with everything that I have going on. That means that it can be very easy for things to slip from my memory. However, if something is in my calendar, it is locked in place, and I will without a doubt remember it. I never used to do this, thinking that calendars were a pretty old school thing. However having something that can sync across all different devices is imperative to me.
Â
Take time to analyse.
You can do all of the steps above, but if you don’t take time to analyse it, the organisation mentioned above can be redundant. Normally on a Sunday, before the start of a new week I will spend time looking over my calendar, my lists and the things that I need to tick off. By doing this I can ensure that everything is covered, and I am working towards the right thing. This is simply something that helps to refocus my thoughts and I feel worlds better.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning about how I stay organised. I know that I can take organisation to another level which is out of this world. By staying on top of planning and organisation, I can feel much better and lifted. These are all small things that I do which make me feel loads better. This helps me juggle everything that I have going on, such as my full-time job, freelance work, my site, family and so much more. I would love to hear from you guys on this. How do you stay organised? Is there anything else that I should be doing?
