I am a sucker for a good department store. As many of my readers are a similar audience to myself, I am sure that you will be the same as me. I can remember when I was younger, been dragged to the high street with my grandma and we would sit in BHS and people watch. She would have a mug of tea and I would be treated to jam on toast with a fruit shoot on the side. From then, I have been a sucker for a department store. In this post I figured that I would share with you my favourite department stores and why I love them so much.
Flannels.
The first department store that I want to mention is without a doubt Flannels. Living in the North of England, we aren’t blessed with access to that many department stores. However, we do have a Flannels and you better believe that I spend far too much money in that store. Whether it is on new clothing items, accessories or even beauty, you will find me in Flannels after pay day and I just love it. Plus, they do a good points scheme!

Harrods.
Harrods will always hold a very special place in my heart. It was one of the first big brands that I ever worked with on a freelance basis and the importance of Harrods in my family goes waaay back. As a history lover and a true nerd, there is no denying that Harrods is a brand that is synonymous with pure luxury. I can remember the first time walking around Harrods, back in 2000 and I was amazing by the buildings architecture and from there I wanted to learn everything about the history of the amazing brand.
Â
Selfridges.
Over the years, Selfridges has become one of my favourite department stores and I think that is because they have begun to offer much more than just fine, luxury items. For example, when the London store added brands such as Primark and Boohoo, I knew that they were onto a winner. People want that luxury high-end experience, without needing to break the bank and I think that Selfridges have managed to bridge that gap perfectly.
Â
John Lewis.
I had never really been to a John Lewis before until we bought out first house and got a voucher. That was when I realised that there was so much available under one roof. And I know that makes me sound like I am doing a cheesy infomercial, but it is the truth. Whenever I need anything for the house, the first place that I take a trip to is John Lewis. I think most of our house is decked out like a John Lewis advert and I am not angry about it.
Â
Liberty.
This is another one that sits up there for me, along the similar kind of lines to Harrods. The heritage around Liberty is amazing and I love the department store. For me, this is the place that I love to visit when I head down to London at Christmas time. The displays at Liberty are always so beautifully considered and with the stunning heritage building, it sets the inside on a different level to any other department store that I have mentioned.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about my favourite department stores. Even though the high street is a dwindling thing here in the UK, there are still some amazing places that we can visit. Some of them are just much more of a day out to go and visit, especially the likes of Harrods and Selfridges if you aren’t situated near them. Make sure to leave me a comment below. Let me know about some of your favourite department stores and why you love them so much!
