Today, I am going to share with you guys a post all about the Elf Putty Bronzer. A while ago, Elf had a revival and for the first time since getting into makeup, it piqued my interest. I had heard of the brand before, but it ever really interested me enough to want to go ahead and pick something up.

That was until they began rolling out their dupes in 2022/2023. All of a sudden, I needed to see if the products were as good as the real thing. Hence why I got my hands on the Elf Putty Bronzer and after putting it through its paces for some time, I am ready to share my thoughts with you guys.

Why I wanted this product.

As I briefly mentioned above, the main reason why I wanted this product was because I was intrigued by the line of dupes that Elf had brought out recently. It seemed like every big beauty release; Elf was automatically bringing out a dupe to steal the limelight. It was rather clever, and some would say sneaky what they were doing. But seeing all the noise about the dupes, I wanted to see for myself if they really were as good as the original products.

The packaging.

As you know, I always speak to you guys about the packaging of products. For me, the packaging is important. But I know that it isn’t for other people. If I am paying for a product, I want it to look and feel nice. I’m not going to deny, the Elf Putty Bronzer isn’t the greatest in terms of packaging, but it will certainly do. It works and it is practical. My one real bug bear with this product is that the pan is so small that it can misshape your sponge or brush as you try to shove it inside the pan!

The shades.

There may be more shades in the range now, but when I bought this from the Sephora website, I reckon that there were around 10 shades in the range. To be honest, for a drugstore brand I thought that it was a rather good shade range with different undertones. I also appreciated that they had some wonderful deep shades for individuals with richer complexions. That is normally an area that is underrepresented with drugstore products. However, I am more than happy with the shade that I was able to get for myself.

The consistency.

I found that this Elf Putty Bronzer was rather firm to begin with. However, I found that once I broke though that firmed upper layer, it was a much creamier and more emollient product. To apply this, I take either my damp Beauty Blender or my It Cosmetics brush, I go straight into the pan of product to pick it up and apply it to the skin. Then I will use the same brush or sponge to buff it into the skin gently. Thanks to how creamy this product is, it is effortless to blend and looks great on the skin.

The coverage.

Over the years, I have mentioned that I like products like this to have additional coverage packed into the product because I have areas of pigmentation on my cheeks that need covering. With this Elf Putty Bronzer, I would say that it has a medium coverage, but it certainly doesn’t pack a punch. That doesn’t bother me though because I know that generally speaking products like this aren’t designed to cover like a concealer would. If anything, I rather like that this is a light layer on top of my foundation.

How it compares to other products?

I have shared many times before that I am a sucker for cream bronzers. For me, I love how they can really bring your skin to life after going in with your other base products. I have to say, if I had all of my cream bronzers lined up, I wouldn’t be able to tell what the cheaper alternative was. It can really hold its own against some of the biggest brands in the beauty space and I adore that. Because of that, this has become one of my go-to products that I use on a daily basis.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about the Elf Putty Bronzer. As I mentioned numerous times throughout this post, I adore this item and find myself reaching for it almost constantly. I love how it applies, blends and sits on the skin. The only thing that I would change is the packaging as it can be hard to get your brush or sponge inside the pot. But you can’t win them all. As always, I will leave a link to this item below for you to check it out for yourself. I would love to hear from you guys in the comments below. Have you tried this Elf Putty Bronzer? If so, what were your thoughts?
