It is time for a new beauty review and today it is all about the Elf Camo Concealer. This has been taking the internet by storm for a while now. Thanks to TikTok, it has really blown up recently. Naturally, as with any viral product, I needed to get my hands on it and try it out for myself. However, the one thing that put me off was that drugstore concealers have always let me down.
I always compare new concealers to my Tarte Shape Tape and truthfully, I have never found anything that comes close in terms of the coverage. So, when I saw people losing their minds about this dupe, I knew I was going to have to put it to the test.
Why I wanted this concealer.
As I mentioned above, I feel ready to move away from Tarte Shape Tape. I think after the whole controversy a couple years ago when Tarte released a horrendous shade range, I have wanted to detour from the brand. However, there is no way to get away from the fact that Shape Tape has out of this world coverage. For somebody with darkness under their eyes, for a long time there was nothing that came close. Believe me, I tried. Which is why I was so excited to see this gaining in popularity.
Â
The consistency.
When you first pull the wand out of the tube, you can see how creamy this product is. It is my favourite consistency when it comes to a concealer, however I understand that may vary for various people. Some people want something much thinner for if they are using it around their eyes. Others want something quite thick for if they are trying to cover blemishes. I find that the consistency of this concealer certainly sits somewhere in the middle. Making it a fantastic concealer for everything in my book. Especially when you consider the drugstore price of the item.
Â
The coverage.
There is no denying that this Elf Camo Concealer is full coverage. Would I say that it is as full coverage as the Tarte Shape Tape? No, not quite. However, it is still very high up there in terms of coverage. When I think about everything else in my concealer collection, this certainly has more than most other products. It has a battle when it comes to the darkness under my eyes, and it always comes out on top. On particularly sleepy days, I may have to go in with two layers to get it fully opaque. But it is without a doubt a full coverage product.
Â
How it lasts.
One thing that I have noticed recently with concealer, especially under eyes, is the way that it settles. I find that as the day goes on, the more it settles into the very fine lines under my eyes. The more I have noticed this, the more I have recognized that it happens more with certain products. When I have used this Elf Camo Concealer, it sits beautifully, and I don’t feel like it settles into my fine lines. If anything, it does quite the opposite. I feel like this is very smoothing on the skin and I adore it for that reason. It makes my under eyes look almost airbrushed and for that reason I completely adore it.
Â
How it compares to other items.
I mentioned above that I really wanted this Elf Camo Concealer because I had heard that it was closely linked to the Tarte Shape Tape. To be honest, even though I loved the Tarte Shape Tape, I was ready to move away from it. The product is still amazing, but I don’t feel like the brand is one that I love anymore. Which is where the Elf Camo Concealer enters the chat. There is no denying that this is a truly fantastic product. For me, the Tarte is slightly higher in coverage, but it really is splitting hairs.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post on the Elf Camo Concealer. I adore this product and I am so glad that I got my hands on it. For me, this really is a true dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape. Because of how much I adore this, I now have a couple different shades in my collection. That way, I can do a full highlight and contour routine with this. The contour really is a standout in my opinion and has blown products like Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand out of the water. As always, I will pop a link to this product below for you to check out for yourself. Leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this product out and what you thought about it.
