Today, I am going to be sharing with you guys a post about my short-term blogging goals. You may already know that I have been blogging forever and a day. I started when I was a teenager and here, I am today as a 27-year-old. Back in the day, I started my blog as just a little bit of fun. I wanted a new hobby to fill some of my spare time and that is how I fell into the blogging life. Little did I know at the time just how much of my time my blog would end up using.
However, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore it. That is why, for the first time, I wanted to set myself some goals. I have never done this before because I didn’t want to apply pressure, but I feel like I am now ready for them.
Reach over 1,000,000 blog views.
First up in my short-term blogging goals is all about metrics. For me, I have always been very laid back when it comes to the numbers. It has never mattered to me if I get 1 person reading my post or 1000, I enjoy writing and uploading. However, I have been hovering around the million views mark for some time and I think that I need to promote the hell out of my site to hit that amazing milestone. I am hoping that by writing it down, I will manifest it into my life.

Have a month-on-month increase in profit.
Blogging for me has never been about the money. However, a current short-term blogging goal is to see an increased profit level. I work in marketing full time, so I know the steps that I need to do to ensure that I am seeing a return. However, as this is a side-line, I don’t dedicate hoards of time and effort to making that happen. In the coming year I am going to change that. My outreach with brands is going to increase, my freelance rate will be assessed and much more. This hugely depends on how much time and effort I can realistically dedicate to my site.
Â
Be more cautious with PR.
My next short-term blogging goal is to be more cautious with PR. When I first started blogging, I wanted to make it onto all of the PR lists for beauty and fashion. I would say that by 2018/2019, I achieved that. I was getting parcels every single day and I felt like I hit the jackpot. However, now as a more mature adult I have realised two things about PR. The first is that I have more products and items that I can ever use, which is massively wasteful. The second is the effect on the environment. I am sure that you have seen PR boxes on Instagram, and they are huge and elaborate, for no reason at all. I want to reduce what I accept and be more mindful.
Â
Spend more time being social.
Back when I first started blogging, the community was huge. It was actually one of my biggest draws in the early days to continue with my site. People would comment on each other’s work, but aside from that, friendships were made. I have specific bloggers that I always like to keep up with. However, aside from commenting on their post, I don’t have a relationship with them. I want to start finding people and messaging them. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want a long list of pen pals, but I want people to feel appreciated for providing me with fantastic content that I adore to consume.
Â
Utilise social media more to push my posts.
I have shared before here on my blog that I am not a fan of social media. I don’t know what it is, but I just don’t feel like I fit in within the social media realm. Back in the day, I had an Instagram account that was primarily used to gain traction to my blog, but I hated it. It even amassed around 60,000 followers without me even trying. Which is a feat very hard to achieve these days, but I just deleted it. For me, it was very superficial, and I didn’t like it. However, I do recognise how fantastic it was for generating traffic to my site and I should do more.
I hope that you guys enjoyed this blog post and reading my short-term blogging goals. They aren’t particularly grand or over-ambitious, but they will keep me on the right track. As you may know, with my blog title, The Reluctant Blogger, I do have wobbles with my site. Every now and again, I take a step back, look at my site and wonder why I am doing this. It doesn’t pay the mortgage and it takes up so much of my time. However, at the moment, I simply adore it. Writing is an outlet for me, and I love to engage with you guys. Previously, when I have deleted my blog in the heat of the moment, the instant regret is intense. With some goals in mind, hopefully that will prevent me from many any cutthroat decisions and deleting everything again!
