If you have been around for some time, you may know that I have been blogging a long time. I started well over 10 years ago and I am still at it today. There is something about writing and posting that I simply adore. During that time, I have learnt a thing or two about blogging. That combined with my professional job in marketing, I am well averse to writing, posting and ranking well.

Which is why in today’s post I am going to share with you guys the tools for creating great posts. These are the main tools have helped me to refine and pushed my blog in the right direction. However, I do want to start by saying the best thing that you can do to enhance your posts be passionate about your subject. But anyway, here are my tools for creating great posts.

SEO WordPress Tool.

When I first made the switch from Blogger to WordPress, I was shocked at the massive differences. The main one being that you can have a range of plug-ins to help you improve your content. One of the main ones that most people use is Yoast and that helps you to identify and improve the SEO of your posts. It is a simple checklist and it operates on a traffic light based system. I spent some time working through all my live posts and improving them and now it helps me to set up all of my posts in the correct way.

Readability Plug-In.

Readability is something that you should be aware of if you want to improve your site. Whether you like it or not, you have to write for search engines these days. This is why this is such an important tools for creating great posts. What I like to do, is write my post as normal. Then, once I paste that into WordPress, it will tell me if my post reads well not only for search engines, but for individuals. I will then make changes to suit. Whether this is due to paragraph length, structure, passive text, etc.

Google Analytics Keyword Analysis.

Something that you guys need to look into is Google Analytics. If you have ever wanted to monitor your site, you will probably know all about Google Analytics. However, my favourite thing to use Google Analytics for is keyword analysis. I like to ensure that my site is ranking well for a specific number of keywords, and I can keep a close eye on that with Google Analytics. The tool that I mention next, you can also do this with. However, Google Analytics is a fantastic free option if you are starting out. It is also fantastically user friendly.

SEMrush.

If you are really wanting to take your SEO to the next level, look into SEMrush. However, this is not a cheap SEO tool by any means. Following on from the point above, I use SEMrush for a number of things. It allows me to see my domain authority, my main competitors, clear keyword analysis, issues with my site, etc. I think I pay £99 per month for the privilege of using SEMrush, but once you are onboard with it, it makes all the difference. It isn’t exactly the easiest platform as it is for marketing professionals, but I love it.

Google Docs.

The last thing that I need to mention in my post of tools for creating great posts is Google Docs. I use Google Docs for just about everything in my life. Whether it is Google Keep, Calendar, Sheets or Docs, I love them all. I learnt the hard way many years ago that storing things locally is a mugs game. Now everything for my blog is stored on the Google Cloud. Then I use a Google Sheet to plan, make notes on and schedule my posts. This way, I can get access to everything on any laptop/computer that I am using.

I hope that you guys enjoyed learning about my tools for creating great posts. These are all things that have helped me over the years. None of them are complicated or hard to understand. Some of them do take some basic knowledge of marketing/SEO, but they are all things that can be easily learnt. However, you don’t have to do any of these things. You may just write for yourself, or not want to push it in any kind of way. In that case, keep doing what you’re doing and enjoy it. As always, I would love to hear from you guys on this. Do you have any blogging tools that you use? What helps to keep you advancing and learning more? I think my favourite has to be the readability plug-in for WordPress. That was a game changer for me!
