I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit and one way that I do that is with movies. Movies are something that speak straight to my soul, and I adore them. Over the years, I have shared a couple posts about my favourite films, but never my favourite Christmas picks.

These are the movies that without a doubt get me into the Christmas spirit. Which is what I have needed this year because up until this past weekend I have been acting like a Scrooge. I blame work for that, but now with annua leave until the New Year, I was ready to let Christmas take over. Here are my movies to watch this Christmas.

Love Actually.

Cheesy as fuck. So cheesy that sometimes it turns my stomach. But there are some storylines in this movie that just resonate with me in a different way now that I’m pushing 30. It is one of them movies that I fall in love with more and more every time I watch it. This is a cult classic favorite of many people for a reason and one that I instantly go to every festive period.

The Grinch.

The reason why I need to watch Christmas movies every now and again is because I can be a grinch. I think sometimes I get bogged down in all of the pre-Christmas stress so I don’t see the joy in it all. Because of that one of the movies to watch this Christmas is always the Grinch. It helps me to realise how grumpy my ass is being and I quickly work to pull myself out of it.

Die Hard.

Don’t try to argue with me and tell me that Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie. Its set around an office Christmas party, so it has a festive feel. I have watched Die Hard every single Christmas since I was around 10 years old, and it is still a tradition in my house. Plus, I don’t mind watching vintage Bruce Willis throwing himself around for a few hours. I draw the line at Die Hard 1, I’m not phased about the others.

Four Christmases.

If you are a sucker for a Romcom, Christmas and Reese Witherspoon at her finest, you need to watch Four Christmases. I can remember watching this years ago and it straight away gave me all the Christmas feels. The thing that I love about this is the parallels to my own Christmases. I have divorced parents, so Christmas for me has always been about touring different parents and grandparents houses to show our face and open presents.

The Holiday.

I mean, how could I not mention this in my list of movies to watch this Christmas. Let’s be real, there is no way in hell that Kate Winslets character would ever fall for Jack Blacks. But watching Jude Law in cable knit and some sexy old glasses sets me alight. I could watch that man all night long and even though it would be a logistical nightmare hooking up wit somebody that lives so far away, you cannot deny that you’d make the bloody effort for Jude Law!

Love Hard.

This was a Netflix Christmas movie that really surprised me. I watched it last year just because I was desperate for a bit of a romcom. Plus, I think I was having Nina Dobrev withdrawals after watching all 8 series of the Vampire Diaries, but that is by the by. I don’t often want the underdog to win, especially when they are up against somebody that is sexy. But in this case, I did. I loved the two of the characters together. Plus, I love the catfishing story. It is all too often in this day and age!

Bad Moms Christmas.

One thing that worries me about one day becoming a mom is that it is boring. That you have to act a certain way and do all of the boring things that parents do. One reason why one of my movies to watch this Christmas is Bad Moms: Christmas, is that it makes parenting look fun. That you don’t have to lose yourself to parenthood or stop being fun because you squeezed a person out of you. Plus, when they see the sexy strippers I just love it. It give me an idea of what my future as a parent may look like.

Single All the Way.

As soon as I saw that a Christmas love story movie was coming out I was all over it. It was made all the better that it is about a gay relationship. I fucking love love and seeing two best friends fall in love over the holidays gave me all of the feels. I fell in love instantly with both of the characters and was routing for them the whole way through. Combine that with amazing comedy and a Christmas backdrop and it was the perfect movie for me.

As always, I hope you guys liked this post. You can probably see from the above, I love a classic sappy Christmas movie. I don’t want anything that is too deep. Nor do I want anything that has twists and turns that is going to leave me on a cliffhanger. I love your classic cheesy Christmas movie that has a true, happily ever after. Either that, or something that can make me laugh. These are the movies to watch these Christmas. If you have any other recommendations, leave them for me below and I will check them out for myself.
