Today I am going to speak to you all about something that I love, handbags. For as long as I can remember, I have loved handbags. As a young girl, I used to break into my mother’s bedroom and waltz around with all of her designer items. As I got older, my obsession grew. No longer were handbags from Topshop and ASOS cutting the mustard, I needed to quelch the designer craving.
I began saving for designer handbags at a very young age and I bought my first one at only 17. I loved it and the feeling that it brought me. That probably sounds incredibly shallow, but I don’t spend my money on much else. For me, a handbag is the ultimate treat. So, for this blog post I thought that I would share my favourite high-end handbags from my collection.
Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis
The first item that I am going to mention is the one that I had to put up the most of a fight for. As I am sure many of you guys are aware, this was the ‘it’ Instagram bag for many years. I wanted it, but it was always out of stock online. In the end, I called Louis Vuitton head office to try and get it on pre-order. I was informed that there was no pre-order list, however they were willing to take my name and number to put on file. A couple of months later, I got a phone call. They had a bag in the Bond Street Louis Vuitton with my name on and I could go and collect it at my earliest convenience. I literally got the train into the city the following day. Since then, I have used, abused and whole-heartedly loved this handbag.

Dior Saddle Bag
When the Dior Saddle bag made a revival, I did think that it looked like a stomach. However, the more I looked into them and saw them around, I fell in love. I have two now, but my favourite is without a doubt the black grained leather. It has gold hardware which is wonderful and contrasting. I even bought the embellished strap because the two are like a match made in heaven. I bought the large version because that way it can fit inside everything that I need without making compromises. Plus, the combination of the embellished strap really brings something wonderful and quite grungy to the look. I also have another version that has the classic Dior monogramme and I want to pick up another that is embroidered. A true icon and I explicitly adore them, I know that they are like marmite to other people.

Chanel Double Flap Bag
I could not write a blog post about my favourite high-end handbags without mentioning the wonderful Chanel Double Flap Bag. This was the iconic handbag that my mother always wore, that she would never let me touch. She had to work and save so hard to buy this handbag and she really did cherish it. As soon as I was old enough, I had to go ahead and buy my own. I got the jumbo size so that it is more versatile. Caviar leather so I don’t have to precious with it. Honestly, I have used this so much and luckily for me, it still looks like brand new. I bought this item when it was £3,400 and now you would be looking upward of £5,500 for the same item. They are an investment piece and one that I am still willing to purchase, even at the extortionate prices.

Fendi Baguette
You can blame Sex and the City for this one. There is an iconic scene where Carrie Bradshaw is walking down the streets of New York with her Fendi Baguette on her shoulder. It was that iconic, when Fendi rereleased the baguette in 2019, they used Sarah Jessica Parker in the advertisement. From my young teenage years after watching those iconic scenes, I knew I needed to have one. For me, it was all about the classic brown monogramme. It went on my wish list and that is where it stayed for a very long time. It wasn’t until I was walking around Selfridges one day that I got out my credit card quicker than I care to mention. This is my chic girl laid back handbag. If I am running errands or if I want people to think I thew my look together, I reach for this.

Mulberry Alexa Bag
Last but by no means least, it is onto the Mulberry Alexa. As a young girl, this was the first Mulberry bag that I can recall seeing. I feel madly in love with Alexa Chung after seeing her on T4 and seeing her cool girl attitude. I think there was a picture of her carrying the Mulberry Alexa in HELLO magazine and I was hooked. Honestly, I even asked for one when I was turning 13 years old. Naturally, I got laughed out of the house by my mum and dad. I could have River Island and be happy with it. As soon as I did start earning my own money, Mulberry no longer sold this item. That was until last year when they revived this collection. Not even going to lie, as soon as I saw them, I bought three!
I hope that you guys liked this blog post. As always, I would love to hear from you and what you think. Honestly, I don’t spend this much money on handbags without seriously thinking about it. I know that it is a tonne of cash, but this is why I work so hard at work. These are my little treats to myself and I cannot wait to add to my growing collection. I do have many more on my wonderful shelves, but these are my favourites. If my house was on fire, these are the items that I would save without a doubt, after my dog obviously. Let me know what you think of these items below. Would you treat yourself to designer items? Are you a high-street fan through and through? I would love to hear from you!
