Today, I am going to share a post with you guys all about how I plan my site content. Over the years, I have written countless blog posts. I am sure that as you view my site, it doesn’t seem like much work goes in behind the scenes.
But believe me when I say that most of my time is spend reviewing my plan and adding new content into the schedule. I thought that today I would share with you guys some of the ways that I plan my content and how I ensure that things are cohesive, good for my readers and flow well.
Sit and review my current schedule.
I try and create long term schedules for my site. The reason why I do that is because it takes the confusion and guesswork out of what I am creating. So, whenever I am thinking off adding in some new posts or generating my future schedule, I sit and review where I currently am. What has gone live recently and what do I have coming up. From there, I can see if there is more of a specific subject that needs adding or it alerts me to if I need to diversify it ever so slightly.

Look over analytics and what posts are popular.
When planning new content, it is always helpful to look back and see what worked previously. What went down well and was read by many people. What posts don’t seem to take off so well and what can I learn from that. When you know how to use analytics, it can be incredibly beneficial and take your site to new heights. From there, I aim to share new content which is similar to the previous posts that have done so well. It takes minimal effort and provides so many answers.

Look at what is trending.
Within the fashion, beauty and lifestyle space, there is always so much circling. New trends come and go incredibly quickly. That means that there are always so many new topics that I can share a post on. If I am looking for a new post to share, I will have a quick browse at some of the big players in the space and then see if that subject is something that I can adopt onto my own site. Trending things are always for me, but every now and again there is something special in the middle of all the noise.

Think about the posts that I want to write.
Beyond everything else that I do, I think about what I want to be writing. I put aside what I think would be good due to current trends and the kind of posts that I need to be writing and I go with what I would enjoy writing. Normally, the posts that get the most engagement are the ones that I wrote when I had a passion for the subject. Sometimes, it really is just as simple as sitting down and thinking where my head is at in that moment and what I would like to write about.

Review similar sites.
The amazing thing about the internet these days is that here is so much inspiration out there. I’m not blind to the fact that there are so many different sites out there, all that are killing it. So, I like to seek inspiration from those around me. I take a look over some of the other sites out there and add into my own planner some fantastic ideas from my peers. Over the years, looking at my peers has saved me so many times when I have been scrambling around, wondering what to do next.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post and learning more about how I generate content for my site. I think ultimately the thing that you need to do is analyse what you feel like your site needs. Everything can be achieved with a site if you take the time that is needed to carefully analyse and plan. It doesn’t take much effort; it is just having a careful eye to see things clearly. I would love to hear from you guys on this below. Leave me a comment and let me know how you plan content for your site!
