Who can believe that we are almost in 2024? I know that I am a little premature, but time is simply flying by. I can literally remember sitting here and writing my first post of this year. It only seems like two minutes ago. For me, 2023 has been a year of many lessons.

Some of them have completely changed me and my outlook. I hope that because of these lessons it has made me a much more positive person. So, in todays blog post I wanted to share with you some of the things that I have learnt in 2023.

Other people’s energy is everything.

I used to think that when people spoke about energies were just crazy. But the older I get, the more I realise that it is soooo accurate. People radiate certain energies. I am sure you will know what I mean when I say that. There will be people in your life that are negative through and through, because of that the energy that they put out is very low. I’ve learnt that I other people’s energy affects me incredibly deeply. Which is why I now elect to keep distance from those with negative/low energies and feed from those that I align with.

You don’t always have to be nice.

I always want to be that person that is incredibly helpful, smiley and that goes the extra distance for people. I love the feeling that I have helped somebody or done something selfless. But as I get older, I have found that putting myself out there for others has sometimes gone against me. It has encouraged a few to take advantage of my kind nature and often it has put me in a difficult position. Now, I have realised that while I want to remain a pleasant and friendly person, I don’t have to break my back to go above and beyond for people that wouldn’t do the same for me.

I’m bloody good at my job.

Like most people, I can often downplay my accomplishments. I have been the same in my career for many years. Sometimes I think I am just winging it and being lucky that my company still thinks I am smashing it. But recently, it has just clicked in my head how blood good I am at what I do. I break my back for my career and I am so incredibly proud of what I have managed to achieve for me age. Hopefully the older I get, that confidence will only grow. Well, here’s hoping anyway!

I’m a strong person.

I deal with a lot. Some people won’t believe that I do, but I know that I do. Whether it is work, freelance, family, friends, mental health. You name it, I have to deal with it. Dealing with all of these things and keeping the plates spinning makes me a strong person. My mental resilience has soared over the past 12 months, and I can see how much I have grown. That is something that I am so proud of because not only have I seen a noticeable difference, so have those around me that is why I am going to mention it in what I learnt in 2023.

I have fire within me.

For a while, I felt like I was quite lackadaisical. I just meandered through life and what happened just happened. But I think that it was my mental health that was doing that to me. When in actual fact, all I had to do was to get back to a good place and that fire returned. Now I have such a fire for everything. But beyond fire, I just have energy and for a very long time that wasn’t there. While it is here, I am loving it and going to cling to it.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and reading about the things I have learnt in 2023. Some of them are small things that have helped me, others are larger and have been more impactful. We are all constantly changing, evolving and learning more. It is just about how we take things on board and implement them into my everyday life. Please do leave me a comment below and share with me some of the things that you have learnt during the past few months.
