I think that I have mentioned it before, but in my full-time job I work in sales and marketing. The marketing side of the job that I currently do is focused mainly on websites and SEO. So I thought that for today’s blog post I would sit down and let you know some of the ways that you can get more blog views.
Obviously, most of us do not have our blog for getting in thousands of page views a day. But, it certainly helps you as an indicator of what is working on your site and what people are coming back for. Websites and SEO really are a subject that I could really go on about forever and a day. I will try to keep this short and concise with the key elements that should help you to see a boost in your traffic.
Use Social Media
I know that when it comes to social media, I should really practice what I preach. Because I do not use my social media outlets to push my blog posts at all. I know I should. It is just a great tool for allowing more people to see your site. Not to mention that it allows others to learn what you are about. They are also great because you can tag your posts with different hashtags and it reaches you up to your target market. It will just give you slightly more leverage to encourage people to come and see what you are writing about!

Use Keywords and Think About SEO
SEO is something that I could talk about for 9000 years, but I will keep this short. Ensure that you are using good and strong keywords throughout all of your posts. If you are writing about the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, make sure that you are using that consistently throughout your post and different variations. You can use a keyword, or a phrase too frequently, so just be sure that you are not doing it. Make sure that the file name for all of the images used on your site are correctly labelled. By doing this, it means that the next time Jo Bloggs sits down and Googles the term ‘Loose setting powder’ there is a chance that your post will appear because Google has seen those keywords on your site!
In the coming months, I will write a post that is exclusively about how to optimise your posts for SEO and the small steps that you can take. I understand that if you are not in the marketing space this may seem overwhelming and a little like I am speaking another language, but when you understand the mechanisms of it, it all sits in place.

Engage with Others
One of the best and easiest ways to get people onto your blog or website is by engaging with other people. Ensuring that people know where to find your site. For me, I make sure to spend some time each week going through some of my favourite sites. Reading their content and commenting. It is just a nice and friendly thing to do because it supports others in the same community as yourself. But it can also help to direct some of their traffic back to your blog if you leave a link alongside your comment.
Â
Be Consistent
In order to capture your audience and ensure that they are coming back, you need to be consistent. I have always found that the best thing to do is create a posting schedule. That way, you can briefly map out what I would like to post on them days. That way I have a little structure to what I am doing. I know that I will keep consistent, it just helps me to write. Not only will your readers enjoy the consistency, search engines will also consider this to be a positive and it will be yet another tick for you when it comes to their ranking systems.

Ensure That Your Site Is User Friendly
The last thing that I want to mention in this post about achieving more blog views has to be whether the website is user-friendly or not. Search engines literally look into everything when it comes to your site, including the loading speeds of each screen, how much the user clicks to find what they are looking for, can their bots easily scan your page and so much more. It is reasons why this why I opt for a simple and minimal layout. People can navigate it very simply; the likes of Google can scan it with ease, and it is very user-friendly. Obviously, a lot of this comes down to an individual taste. What they want from their own site, but usability has to be something that you really think about in the forefront of your mind. If you want to see a boost, it is a thing to consider.
I hope that you guys found this blog post interesting. If you are looking at boosting your figures a little that some of these changes can positively help you out. Whenever I am speaking about getting more page views, these are the starting points that I begin with. They are simple changes that can be made, but they can have a vast impact. I may do another post in a couple of weeks really drilling into these and opening them up a little. That way you can see how the changes that you are making actually work and what they do behind the scenes that you probably don’t realise.
