Where can I start when it comes to these absolutely stunning Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pumps? I can remember first seeing these in the infamous Sex and the City movie many years ago. I fell completely head over heels in love with them as a 14-year-old. At the time they were completely unattainable.

But, they were a pair of shoes that I did not simply forget about. It wasn’t until many years later when I saw the fashion icon that is Olivia Palmero wearing these with a chic outfit on her wedding day that they bumped their way back up to the top of my wishlist and I knew that I was going to have to get my hands on them and add them to my ever growing collection of high end and overpriced shoes.

 

 

Why these shoes.

These shoes really popped back into my mind after I had gotten engaged. To me, these are the most perfect wedding shoes, especially for somebody like myself that does not like to conform to tradition and I knew that I was going to be doing something a little different and chic for my wedding day and dress. Those images of Carrie Bradshaw on her wedding day to Big and the pictures of Olivia Palmero popped into my head and it gave me a clear vision of what I wanted and how I wanted to look. The main thing for me was these beautiful Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pumps, so I hopped on a train to London and I went on into Harrods to try on these stunning shoes and finally pick them up for myself!

 

The appearance.

I want to talk about the overall appearance of these shoes. As you can see, they are just bloody brilliant. The heel height which I believe is around 105mm gives the shoes the most perfect shape. Yet, they are comfortable and still elevate you. The blue satin on the pumps is just to die for and to me this was a great addition of something blue on my wedding day, plus the fabric just adds a really classic and timeless touch. Finally, there is the Pierre de resistance on the front of the shoe in the large jewelled buckle. My sister’s words were “that buckle looks like something the pilgrims would wear”, but she wears Ugg Boots to a dress fitting, so I kind of find her comment irrelevant – no hate on Ugg boots there!

 

Comfort level.

Possibly one of the most important things when it comes to a good pair of shoes has to be the comfort level of them. I am an experienced heel wearer and I have had Manolo Blahnik’s in my collection for many years. Compared to their suede BB pumps, these are pretty uncomfortable. I think my problem with them is that I do have feet that are slightly on the wider side. The combination of the toe box having the buckle on top and the satin fabric that does not stretch or give, these can be incredibly tight. I am the kind of person that does persevere with shoes like this. I was willing to put in the time to try and stretch them out a little. It just helped to make them more comfortable to my feet, but that is not always easy.

 

Price per wear.

One thing about these shoes is that they really are the most stunning focal point. As I said, I wanted these for my wedding day to wear with a very simple paired back outfit. They were the centre of attention all night long. Since the wedding, I have been determined to get my moneys worth out of them. I have worn them countless times and I still adore them just as much as I did on my wedding day. I think that these Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pumps with a pair of cropped straight-leg jeans and a crisp white t-shirt is a match made in heaven. It really helps to dress the shoes down for less formal occasions. Plus, when I am just wearing them out for dinner for a couple of hours, they are more than bearable on the comfort side of things.

 

I fully understand that these are a very overpriced purchase for a pair of shoes. But if you have that one special occasion, these are the shoes that you should be treating yourself to. These are a pair of shoes that have stood the test of time. I know that I will be reaching for them and wearing them for many years to come. I actually love these that much that I am planning on getting other colours. Actually, I want more neutral tones so that I can wear them with a whole array of outfits.
