My due date seems like it is creeping up on me at the speed of lightening. I cannot believe that I am already in the third trimester and in just a few short months we will be parents. With the thought of that in mind, I wanted to book a trip with my wonderful husband. A chance for us to spend some time alone before things change forever. So, I wanted to share with you guys where we went, what we did and what I would recommend to you guys.
Where we went.
When we were planning our trip, we set aside 10 days. Because of how bored we can get staying in one place for a long time, we decided to opt for a few locations over the 10 day break. We flew into Milan to begin with and spent a few days. From there, we went down to Florence, next up was Rome and then we rounded up the trip with a few relaxing days in Sorrento. It was the perfect trip to Italy, especially with our bonus day trip to Capri.
Â
Why we wanted to go there.
If you have visited my little corner of the internet before, you will know that Italy is my favourite place in the world. Over the year we have been there probably 20 times. To be honest, in the 11 years that we have been together, my husband and I have been to Italy at least once a year. I adore everything about Italy, the food, the weather, the architecture, the art and everything else in-between. It will forever be my favourite country on earth and it only made sense that we would head here one last time as just the two of us.
Â
What we ate and drank.
Throughout my pregnancy, I have been eating incredibly well. I am making sure that I stick to my healthy diet and eating as many natural and whole foods as possible. But, if you thought I was going to Italy and eating healthy, you can think again. There wasn’t a single day where I didn’t eat a pizza. I think a few days I ate two pizzas in one day. Every day I ate gelato and most days there was a form of carbanara or lasagne. My wonderful husband was right there and joined in with me on my week of overindulging!
Â
Our favourite place on the trip.
I think for me, my favourite place on the trip was definitely Sorrento. It was a new place for us, and I fell completely in love. I can see it being one of our holiday destinations once we have the baby. My husband on the other hand loved heading back to Florence for the fourth time. One morning he even woke up early and went for a walk to grab a coffee and scouted out where he wants us to buy a holiday home by the cathedral. But there is no denying that everywhere in Italy is a winner and I felt so lucky to be able to head back there.

What we spent our time doing.
When we were in the cities, we spent all day out of our room walking around. We stumbled around from place to place, and I made sure to take lots of breaks. Which for an expecting mother means countless drinks and toilet breaks were required. But when we had our relaxing beach break in Sorrento, I did absolutely nothing. The furthest I walked was from the hotel room to the pool to sunbathe. Then perhaps to a restaurant in the evening, but not much more. Half of the trip was full on, the other half was incredibly relaxing.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post about my babymoon. It was amazing to spend some alone time in a beautiful place with my husband. As much as I adored our time, I wish I had spent more time relaxing rather than charging around busy cities. I would love to hear from you guys. Did you go on a babymoon? Would you go in a babymoon if you get pregnant in the future? I loved every single moment of mine and I would highly recommend all expecting mothers to take some time to relax, travel and spend one-on-one time with your other half.
