If you have been around for a while, you may know that I have been in the blogging game for quite some time. And by quite some time, I mean well over a decade. As a matter of fact, I have now been sharing online for well over 50% of my life. Because of that, I need to plan as much in advance to ensure that things run smoothly and for me that involves planning my content.

In this post I am going to share with you how I plan my content to ensure that I have something new going live on a regular basis.

Think about posting frequency.

One of the places that I always start when I think about my content, is I think about how often I want to be posting. From there, when I realise if I want to post twice per week, once per week, etc. I can begin to think about how I want that to be constructed. For me, I often float between posting once every other day, or every third day. I feel like that is manageable for my workload and I can keep things running smoothly at that capacity.

Analyse post-rotation.

My site is constructed of quite a few different types of posts. You may see that I rotate between beauty, fashion, lifestyle, books, blog, etc. Sometimes when I am looking ahead at the content that I want to see in the future, I think about what I want the frequency of each of those categories to be. Things change, I want to add things into the mix, temporarily remove things and by analysing what has gone before, I can think about how I want things to look int the future.

Look through old posts and their analytics.

One thing that I have managed to obtain from having this site for such a long time is a plethora of analytics. Because of that, I am able to look back over older posts, see what did well, what underperformed, etc. That allows me to change my content and gain more views depending on what I want to achieve. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always plan my content solely with the purpose of gaining more traffic, but it can certainly help guide me in the right direction.

Think about my passions and where they sit.

I am sure that you guys will agree me with me on this, especially if you are a creative person, but I feel like my passions in life pivot. I have often shared that when I first began posting online, it was pretty much exclusively a beauty site. From there, I expanded more into the fashion space as I was able to treat myself to more luxury goods. Over the years, my site has changed depending on my passions and how I plan my content has changed vastly also.

Visualise what I want the outcome of my site to be.

When it comes to my site, there are a few things that I like to consider, including what I want the appearance of my site to be. That helps me to plan and consider my content. By looking at an overview of my site, it usually stands out to me what I want to add into the mix. Whether that be a series of beauty posts, some lifestyle, etc. It may seen rather backward to some people starting with something such as visuals, but it is so important to me and why I run the site.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about how I plan my content. For me, I have always found that if I want to stay consistent, I need to ensure that I have a thorough plan in place. If you are a blogger out there that is trying to find your feet, I hope this can help you ever so slightly.
