It is time for a new beauty blog post here on my little corner of the internet. Today I am going to be reviewing the Tan Luxe Gradual Tanning Lotion. I can remember when I first saw this item on Instagram. I knew within an instant that it was going to be a product that I was going to get my hands on. The aesthetic of the brand seemed to align with myself and what I liked. Not to mention that the before and after pictures of people using this product were phenomenal. I was desperate to get my hands on it. Low and behold as soon as I saw it on the Cult Beauty website, I added it to my cart.
The colour.
The first thing that I want to mention in this review is something that I am completely in love with and that is the wonderful shade of this item. After being an avid false tanning advocate for years because I have a fear of the sun, I rely on false tan to stop me being so pale that I resemble a vampire. I can honestly say that the colour that this gradual tanner gives after just one light layer is amazing. It looks supernatural, yet noticeable that you have some colour. Then as you use this daily and build the colour, you are left with a tan which looks supernatural and lovely and deep. I once went to India for 6 weeks and this false tanner gives me the same shade of bronze that almost 2 months in Indian heat gave me, minus a bad bout of heat rash!
How it applies.
I feel like this really is one of the main selling points of this Tan Luxe product and that is all down to how it actually applies on the skin. For me, I am very fussy when it comes to sunless tanners and I have a long list of how they should not feel. I think the worst false tan that I have used was the Bondi Sands Aero Mousse, that dried that instantly on the skin, it just felt like I was pulling a dry mitt around my body. For this one, especially with it being a gradual liquid tanner, I had high hopes and I was not disappointed. This for me, just feels like a standard moisturiser and it makes my skin feel incredibly nourished and supple. I even have very dry patches on my calves, which since I switched over to using this, has completely cleared up!
The staying power.
Now that we know that this is a super moisturising product, I now want to touch on the actual staying power of this Tan Luxe Gradual Tanner. It is all well and good having a product in your arsenal that has a great colour and applies like a dream, but if it is only on your skin for 20 minutes, it needs to go straight in the bin. I actually use this product very differently to how I use other sunless tanners that I have used previously and that is because this offers a gradual tan. One layer of this will give me a nice colour, but I now actually use a light amount of this daily to help moisturise my skin and that means that I never have down time, I never use too much!
Does it transfer?
One of the biggest things that I have come to realise when it comes to all sunless tanners is if it transfers or not. It is always the worst thing in the world when it is the middle of the warmer summer months, you apply a lovely layer of tanner, put on a simple summer dress and then before you know it, you have tanner marks all over it. I can honestly say that after years of false tanning, this is the bane of my life and I only want to use products from here on, that do not do this. However, I can safely and confidently say that with this Tan Luxe Gradual Tanning Lotion, I have never had any transfer on my clothes, which makes it the ultimate winner in my book and it is why I have repurchased it so many times.
I think that from reading this blog post it is obvious that I love this item. I love how bronze it makes the skin look. Plus it never looks overtly obvious that I have lathered myself in false tan day in and day out. It leaves the skin beautifully hydrated; the colour is wonderful and I never experience any transfer with this. Even instantly after I use it when I hop into bed. This is now a ride or die product for me. I have a spare full bottle waiting in the wings so that I never have to be without this beautiful item.Â
