This year, I have been blogging for a whole decade. That is so scary to think about when I am only 27 years old. It has been such a big proportion of my life and I have gone through many peaks and troughs. There have been times when I love and adore it. Then at other times it has worn me down. Once I even deleted my blog and kissed goodbye to all of the hard work that I had put in over the past few years.

Regardless, I still come back, write new posts every single week and I remain social to other bloggers. It can be hell of a lot of work, but it is something that is super rewarding. These days, the blogging space is changing and many people are opting out for faster paced alternatives. This is why I continue to blog.

It gives me something to do.

If you have followed my blog for some time, you may know that I am a homebody. I love been at home and I have to force myself out of the door every now and again. When I am at home, there are few things for me to do. Honestly, I don’t just want to turn into a vegetable and sit on the sofa all of the time. It gives me something to do to occupy the time when otherwise I would just sit and binge watch Ghost Adventures. For me,i t is simply a hobby for me and it always has been.

It gives me an outlet for what I love.

The reason why I write my blog is because I love the topics that I speak about. I love writing about my life, fashion, makeup and so much more. They are things that are on my mind most of the time anyway, so I may as well write about it and share my thoughts. Especially because in some instances, I want somebody to talk to about these things and there is nobody there to listen to. For example, when I want to compare my Chanel Double Flap Bag to my Chanel 19. There is nobody in my life that cares enough to listen, but I can write a post and share my thoughts!

It keeps me focused.

This one kind of links into the first point for me, but having my blog keeps me focused. Not just in the sense that it keeps me occupied with something to do, but it helps me keep up to date and with my finger on the pulse. I know what new releases are coming out, I know what the best coat this season is going to be and I know what foundations are worth the money. I adore being that person that people come to whenever they want to know things like this. It is become such a big part of my life and I love that.

It has financial benefits.

As I have shared before here on my blog, there certainly are financial benefits to running a blog. At least in my case anyway, but remember that I have been doing this for a very long time. I will say here, you don’t get the same deals that Instagrammers, YouTubers and TikTokers do, but the money is still there for bloggers. If you work hard, it will happen, but it again comes back to having passion for the content. I am very grateful for what I have earned and continue to earn though my little platform. Long may I continue because thanks to knowing so much about fashion and beauty, it has made me have expensive taste!

The opportunities linked to blogging.

I will be very honest and say that for most people, you may never earn a penny from blogging. It was the same case for me for a very long time, however it was the opportunities that I wanted more than anything else. I certainly would not work on a freelance basis for Harrods and Net-A-Porter if it wasn’t for my blog. This space here, is a showcase of my work and what I am capable of. By sharing this, brands noticed me and that is how I work with some of the biggest brands in the world like Vogue on a regular basis.

I hope that you guys liked this blog post into why I continue to blog. Honestly, I think that the underlaying thing is that I am passionate about what I write about. I don’t think that I could possibly spend so much time on something if my heart was not truly in it. These days, blogging is a slow game, but because I do this for a hobby rather than a career, this is perfect for me. I am not saying that I will continue to love this and that I will do it for many years to come, but for now, it makes me happy. For me, this is what it is all about, doing something that makes you happy. As always, I would love to hear from you guys on this topic. Do you guys blog? Are you in this for the long haul?
