A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I booked a last-minute weekend break to Barcelona. We only took a few breaks last year with us still transitioning out of lockdown. I was pretty nervous about travelling, but I broke a couple of weeks back. I have not taken a single holiday in the past two years and I needed some time off work.

I couldn’t quite afford to take a full week off, so we had a weekend break. I loved every single moment of it. In this blog post, I thought that I would share with you some of my favourite parts of the trip. These are the most memorable things that I would love to do again!

Went to the Basilica.

I may not know the exact name of the Basilica, but you know which one I mean. It looks like lots of drips of candlewax up the side of a building. I know that may make it sound awful, but I feel like it is an accurate description. It is just a sheer wonder to visit. You have to wonder how something of that scale was constructed so long ago without modern technology. It is amazing. I always love to visit Basilicas and Cathedrals when I go on holiday, truly amazing!

Visited Camp Nou.

What you may not know is that my husband is the world’s biggest football fan. He lives and breathes the team that he supports. However, when his team are not playing, he will watch every single match that is on TV. Even if there is nothing new on, he will watch something recorded. Not going to lie, it can be annoying, but the man has a passion and I adore that. We had to go to Camp Nou and he was in awe. Quite boring for me, but the sheer scale of the stadium is massively impressive!

Went to a Michelin star restaurant.

This is something that I never thought we would do. We do not go to fancy places, but we thought that we would try something new. Everybody was telling us that the food in Barcelona is amazing, so we had to try something. We made a reservation at Abac and it was out of this world. Not going to lie, I certainly am more of a Five Guys burger girl, but I am all for new experiences. I would recommend that everybody have the experience just once!

Had takeaway and drinks on the beach.

After out night at the fancy restaurant, we decided to do something more normal. We put on some comfortable clothes, grabbed a pizza and went to the beach. We had drinks while the sun set and it was amazing. Not going to lie, it was pretty cold, it been March and all. We just laughed all night long. It was easy going and it suited us much more than the Michelin star place!

Went shopping.

I have shared before that I am somewhat of a shopaholic. However, throughout lockdown I have not partaken in the great sport. I have saved up lots of cash and I was ready to spend a fortune. I parked my husband in a bar for the afternoon and I went out shopping. Some designer shopping really went down a treat and it was amazing. However, I spent that much that I got a disapproving look from my husband. It was all worth it.

I hope that you guys liked this blog post. Barcelona really is a stunning part of the world. I loved everything out it. The architecture is just amazing and the food was out of this world. I always feel so grateful that from here in the UK, trips like this are so accessible. I can get to Barcelona in just over an hour on a plane and that is nuts. We are already planning more weekend breaks in Europe over the next couple of months. I really need to slowly ease myself back into travelling and taking time off work. I would love to hear from you guys. Please let me know if you have been to Barcelona or your favourite places to go!
