It is time for a new beauty blog post and today it is all about my go to base products. I have said it before and I will say it again, I love base products. For me, they are so transformative and that is why I adore them. My skin for the most part is clear, however I do have some darkness and areas that I like to cover. For this reason, base products are essential to me and the look that I want to try and go for. So, in this blog post I am going to be sharing my go to base products. These are the cream of the crop. The products that I simply could not be without and what I think make the biggest difference. I would be lost without any of these items in this post.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream.
Honestly, I wish that I didn’t love the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. It is so expensive at almost £70 a pot, but I need this stuff. When Charlotte Tilbury first came out many moons ago, I heard her talking about this item and I wanted it. Charlotte Tilbury herself describes products in a certain way that makes you need them and that was the case for Magic Cream. I use this every single morning before going in with my go to base products and it just sits perfectly on the skin and give same a moisturised base. I adore this and use far too much of it. Over the years I have tried cheaper alternatives from other brands, but nothing compares to this amazing cream!

Benefit Porefessional Primer.
I know that many people think this primer has had its day, but I have to disagree. This was one of the first foundations that I ever tried and I fell in love. My pores are quite enlarged around my nose and this product made them disappear. I fell in love. Since I first tried this, I have tried out so many other items along a similar line. No matter what, I always seem to come full circle back to the Benefit Porefessional. I think that my favourite thing with this primer is that it is smoothing, but not overly heavy. The Urban Decay Optical Illusion primer for example is essentially like spackle for the face. The Benefit just seems to have a perfect balance of everything!

Nars Sheer Glow.
Many years back when I was in my teenage years, I can remember seeing this foundation on YouTube. I think just about everybody was using this back then and I really wanted to try it out. The only thing that stopped me at the time was the word ‘glow’. As somebody with an oily complexion, I am using to avoiding products that contain words like ‘glow’ and ‘dew’. However, I got a Space NK vouched one year and I decided to go ahead and pick this up. It was the first Nars foundation that I ever used and I am now absolutely in love. I have been using this Nars Sheer Glow Foundation for almost a decade and I am hooked. The coverage is amazing, it blends in like a dream and has fantastic staying power.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer.
For far too many years, I was exclusively using the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I thought that no other concealer could compete in regard to the coverage or creaminess. However, I then got my hands on the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer and everything changed. The amazing things about this concealer is the fantastic shade range, the consistency and the coverage. I can have very dark circles underneath my eyes, and this Too Faced concealer just deals with it flawlessly. Now that I have tried this out, I cannot imagine that I will go back to my much heavier Tarte Shape Tape as this Too Faced one has everything that I need from a concealer.
Â
Fenty Creme Bronzer.
I am a sucker for a cream bronzer as I have mentioned on my blog before. For a long time, I was using cream foundation sticks, etc. However, I was finding that they were a touch too heavy on my skin. So, somebody told me about the Fenty Cream Bronzer, and I have not looked back since. What I like to do once my foundation and concealer are in place, I will take my beauty blender and just warm up the parameter of my face using this. It just adds some depth of colour without overloading my face with too much coverage and heavy cream. From the moment that I tried this for the first time, I pretty much disregarded every other cream bronzer in my collection, and I am loving it.
Â
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder.
Over the years, I have tried out so many different powders. Like so many of you guys, I always come back to the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. This is such a wonderful standard powder. It sets my skin beautifully and I know that my makeup is going to stay put all day long. I tend to gently pack this onto my under eyes using and near my nose using a powder puff. Then, for the rest of my face where I am not as oily, I just take this on a big and fluffy buffing brush. It helps to keep my oils at bay, does not change the colour of my base products and makes me look smooth. I always have a backup of this in my draw!
Â
MAC Mineralise in Dark Deep.
For such a long time I only used the MAC Give Me Sun. I never intended on purchasing this item. However, when I went to restock my Give Me Sun and saw it was out of stock, I decided to try out Dark Deep. Now, I kick myself that I did not give this a whirl for myself sooner. This has the stunning blendability that Give Me Sun does; however, it is not as orange tone. Since picking this up for the first time, I have used it near enough every single day. Even some of the higher end bronzers have taken a backseat since this came into my collection. It is a fantastic item and I truly adore using it. Not to mention that these Mineralise powders by MAC seem to last forever and a day!
Â
Dior Contour Palette.
Last but by no means least is the Dior Contour Palette. I can remember first seeing this many moons ago. As much as I wanted to try it out, I didn’t think that the shades would work for me. I thought that the highlighters would be fine, however the two contouring shades were a little too lighter compared to what I had used previously. Naturally, I threw caution to the wind and went for it anyway. I fell in love with this from the very first time that I tried this. The highlighters are ideal for somebody who doesn’t want a beam of light from their cheeks. The contour is just about the perfect shade for me. The cooler tone really chisels, and the deeper tone adds so much stunning depth. I adore this and would recommend it to anybody.
I hope that you guys liked this blog post and getting to see my go to base products. As I mentioned, I love all of these. All of the items mentioned in this post have been purchased with my own money. They all work absolutely amazingly, and I would highly recommend them. Most of them have been part of my collection for many years and I think that they are tried and true. As I have mentioned before, my bare skin is quite oily and I still think that these items work amazingly. I will pop some links below to these items if you would like to check them out. Please do leave me a comment and tell me what you think of my go to base products. I would also love to know some of your favourite items and I will check them out!
