I adore wearing mascara and how transformative it is on the eyes. However, it is a product that I am incredibly critical of. The main reason for that is that it is very difficult to see what sets them apart. For that reason, I have stuck with my Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara for well over a decade. It lengthens my lashes, separates them, it doesn’t budge, and it lifts them to the heavens.
Because I get so much of what I am looking for from that drugstore mascara, I compare everything to it. Which often means that I cannot justify spending £35 on a mascara when my £10 does just as much of a fantastic job. But, because of how much I adore Nars as a brand, I decided to try the Nars Climax Extreme Masara. Here are my final thoughts…
Why I wanted this mascara.
The main reason why I wanted this product is because I adore Nars. If you have visited my blog before, you will know that I love Nars base products. If I had to select one base brand to use for the rest of my days, it would without a doubt be Nars. Their discontinued All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation was my all-time favourite product and I still mourn that item. Because of how much I loved that product, I wanted to see if there were any other items in the Nars range that was just as amazing.

The wand.
I will start this section by saying that this is where this Nars Climax Extreme Mascara beats the Maybelline cheaper alternative. The wand on this mascara is a super fluffy, traditional style mascara wand and I enjoy that. I much prefer that to a plastic comb type of mascara wand. However, I do understand that it is just personal preference. Some people, some of my friends included love a comb because it really helps to separate and lengthen. For me, I love the comb on this mascara and how it looks.
Â
The colour.
It may sound strange mentioning the colour of this mascara, especially given that most mascaras are black. However, I often find that the opacity of a mascara can be very hit and miss. For example, I can remember trying a Urban Decay Mascara quite a while ago and it seemed to be more grey once it dried down than black. There is no denying that this Nars Climax Extreme Mascara is incredibly black, opaque and I adore that about it. There is no denying that this is a jet black mascara.
Â
The staying power.
The reason I am going to mention the staying power of the Nars Climax Extreme Mascara is because with the original Climax Mascara, I found it to smudge like a mother fucker. I would go into the bathroom at midday, whilst at work and I looked like I’d been crying at my desk. With this, there was no smudging, budging or anything else for that matter. Once it was on, in place and dried down it didn’t budge. I even found this to be pretty waterproof even though that isn’t one of the many claims that it makes.

Compared to other mascaras.
As I’ve mentioned, I have a hard time buy mascaras because I always compared it to the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I’m afraid to say that the same applies for the Nars Climax Extreme Mascara. Even though this mascara does tick all of the boxes that I am looking for, so does something that is a third of the price. I could continue to purchase this time and time again, but when I cannot see a noticeable different to the cheaper alternatives, I don’t understand why I would do that. But I will admit that through my entire trial of this mascara, I didn’t have any issues with it.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post on the Nars Climax Extreme Masara. It really is a fantastic mascara and, in my opinion, it solves the issues that I had with the original Nars Climax Mascara. As always, I love how easy this brush is to use, how it applies and how perfect it lasts on my lashes. However, as I mentioned above, it isn’t anything revolutionary at the side of my standard Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. As always, I will pop a link below to this item if you would like to take a look for yourself. Please do leave me a comment below and let me know if you have tried this for yourself and how you found it. Am I just sinical when it comes to mascara, or is there really a clear difference that I just don’t see?
