I have banged on before here on my site that I have the driest lips in the world. Ok, perhaps that is an exaggeration, but it feels like it to me. Which is why when I saw a new lip oil hit the market, I had to try it out. Especially if it is anything like some of my old favourite the Clarin Lip Oil and the Dior Lip Glow.
Merit is a brand that was new to me and that only made me want to try them out more. Especially given how stunning all of their branding is online and on social media. So, after putting this through its paces for a while, I thought I would give you the low down on this Merit Lip Oil.
Why I wanted this item.
I wanted this Merit Lip Oil because I had seen it blow up online. Especially with the influencers in America and Canada. As soon as I saw people using this, I wanted to try it out. But it wasn’t available on UK beauty retailer sites and up until a couple of months ago they didn’t ship direct to the UK without enormous import fees and issues But that didn’t deduct from the amount that I wanted to get my hands on this item.

How I use this item.
I use this item generally on a day-to-day basis when I am heading out. I will lightly line my lips with my standard MAC Oak liner, then I will apply the Merit Lip Oil to the centre of the lips. It helps to blend the lip liner and makes my lips look so luscious and plump. This has quickly become one of my most used lip items in my collection. Plus, I find that when I apply this first thing in the morning, it stays on my lips really well through the day for a slick gloss.
Â
How hydrating this is.
Because my lips are so hydrating, it isn’t just about how it looks on the lips, it is about how it makes my lips feel. When my lips are chapped, I need a product that is going to inject them with hydration and make them look and feel amazing. I will say that this product takes away some of the tight discomfort that chipped lips can feel like. However, it does not give them intense, lasting hydration that I sometimes require. But for a day to day lip product, this delivers everything that I need.
Â
The appearance on the lips.
My favourite thing without a doubt with the Merit Lip Oil is how it actually looks on the lips. As this is an oil, you get that very obvious high sheen on the lips. However, the thing that I adore about this is the shade. I picked this up in the shade Taupe and I have fallen in love. This is a great neutral shade that looks amazing on the lips. The shade and shine of this has really pegged it to the post making it my most reached to lip product in my collection.
Â
How it compares to similar items.
Above in the introduction I mentioned that I have other products which are similar to this. The first is the Clarins Lip Oil that I have been loving and using for years. The second one that I need to give an honourable mention to is the Dior Lip Glow. Both products are absolutely fantastic and that is why I needed to do a comparison. I would say that in texture and moisture, the Merit Lip Oil is very similar. However, the one thing that sets this apart is the shade range. I adore that the Taupe shade from Merit really makes me gravitate towards this product more so than the others.

Would I repurchase this?
I am sure you guys will already be able to tell with this post, I adore this item. I have used this item almost non-stop since I first purchased it. I love this so much that I already have another one waiting in the wings. Which is why I am more than comfortable saying that I would absolutely repurchase this item, because I already have. If you can, go ahead and pick up the Merit Lip Oil for yourself. There is a range of shades and it has very quickly become one of my favourite items!
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post on the Merit Lip Oil. It is a product that I have been loving and using for months now. My lips do feel hydrated and look amazing, but it certainly isn’t the most hydrating item that I have used on my lips before. If I really need a punch of hydration, I will always opt for my good old Lano Lips. But that isn’t to say that this isn’t hydrating, it just doesn’t pack as much of a punch as I need sometimes. As always, I will pop a link to this Merit Lip Oil below for you guys to check out for yourself. Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think about this product and if you would like to try it out for yourself.
