Time for a new beauty blog post and this time I am going to be speaking to you guys about the Nars Soft Matte Concealer. I can remember first seeing this product on Carli Bybels YouTube channel many years back, before it was even released to the general public and I knew that I needed to add it to my makeup collection.
I had been a long-time fan of the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and pretty much every other base product that they have in their range, so I knew that I was going to absolutely adore this item. Honestly, the very morning that it came out, I logged straight onto the Space NK website and I purchased around 5 different shades, just to make sure that I had the perfect shade for me and my skin.

The coverage.
The most important part of any concealer review has to be the coverage. For me, I like my products to be medium to full coverage. With the Nars Soft Matte Concealer I feel like this has a good amount of coverage to hide specific areas of my skin that I think need some more attention. It is also medium enough that where I want to blend it out a little more, this is possible, then under my eyes where I need more coverage to hide my darkness, I will just use my ring finger to pack on the product and I am then working with a very full coverage product, which I really do need underneath my eyes where the purple likes to try and fight its way through my base makeup. Overall, I think you can really alter this concealer to make it what you need.
The texture.
Up next, now we have spoken about the coverage I want to touch on the thing that I deem to be the second most important thing when it comes to any concealer and that is the texture of the product. Normally when you get a medium-full coverage product, it can be quite heavy or sticky on the skin, but I don’t find that to be the case at all. I apply this to the skin using a large concealer makeup brush to place the product and just from putting my brush into the tub of product for the first time, I knew that it was going to be super creamy, whipped up and that makes it feel truly amazing on the skin. Once this is then on the skin, it feels incredibly light and I really enjoy that.
How it blends.
It is all well and good if a product is creamy and full coverage, but if it doesn’t blend in well with my skin and the rest of my makeup, then it isn’t a product that I am going to continue to use. As I mentioned previously, this is a super creamy product, which is great for many reasons, but it can also be difficult when it comes to blending because in a number of situations, it can cause the product to move beyond where you placed it and when you try to work it into the skin either using a brush or a sponge, it can make the product almost completely disappear. With this Nars Soft Matte Concealer, I feel like it has the balance completely perfect, which means that it blends in seamlessly.
How it sits with my other makeup products.
I am a creature of habit when it comes to my makeup and I tend to wear the same items for months at a time. For that reason, when I am adding a new product like this into my routine, I know that if it works well with the products that I am wearing, it will work pretty well all of the time. I have now paired this Nars Soft Matte Concealer with just about every single base combination that I can think of, whether that be various moisturisers, primers or foundations. No matter what I throw at this product, it just seems to work like absolute perfection and that is what I love about it so much. Not to mention when I set this with my all time favourite Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and Urban Decay Setting Spray.
How it lasts on the skin.
This is something that I always mention when I am reviewing base makeup products and that is about how long it lasts and looks good on the skin for. As I have mentioned previously, I get up and get ready for work at around 6am in the morning, from there I will go and put in between and 8-to-10-hour shift at work. All I do is sit at a desk for most of the day, so there is nothing that will put my makeup through strain, and I need that base to stay in place. I then normally take my makeup off around 9pm once I have cooked tea and tidied the house a little. With this Nars product, I never see it break down through the day, even as my natural oils start to work their way through.
I hope that you guys liked this blog post and if you are looking for a new concealer, then you give this a whirl.
