For a long time, I resisted the cream blush hype. Mainly because I have always been a powder kind of girl. I liked to do my makeup in a process, I started with my liquids and creams, then I would set all over with powder.
Because of that, after the powder I liked to only go in with other powders to ensure that the makeup remained seamless on the skin. The thought of applying creams and liquids on top of powders scared me. That was until I got my hands on the Merit Flush Balm and begin playing around. In this post, I am going to break down my thoughts on the Merit Flush Balm and why it has become a part of my everyday makeup routine.
Why I wanted this item.
The main reason why I wanted this product was because I wanted a new way of doing my makeup. For years I have been sticking to the same products and even though I liked how my skin looked, I wanted to work in more creams to my routine to get a more natural and lighter look. Plus, I had tried a few other items from Merit, and I loved the quality of the items and how they looked on the skin. Because of that, I knew that this was going to be good quality.
How I use this.
I use this Merit Flush Balm very simply. I will go in with my normal base routine. To begin with I will moisturise with my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, then payer my SPF on top. Once that has had a little time to settle into the skin, I will use my normal primers, foundations and concealers. Then after a little cream bronzer, I will set all of my skin using my classic Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. Once that is all locked into place, I take my Merit Flush Balm and apply it to the high points of my cheeks and use my fingers to gently pat it out.
The consistency.
Over the last year or so, I have got my hands on and tried out so many different cream/liquid bronzers and blushes. In terms of consistency, I have to say that this Merit Flush Balm is one of my favourites. For me, I like this stick form because it makes it so easy to apply to the skin. You can go straight onto the skin with this product, and it doesn’t displace any product underneath. That is all I need. I want it to be creamy enough to apply with ease, then it needs to buff in seamlessly, without been too emollient on the skin. This product just nails it.
How it sits on top of other products.
As I mentioned above, one of my main concerns with this product was that it wouldn’t sit very well on top of my other powder products. I wanted them to layer well and not end up looking muddy when mixing the different consistencies. As much as I wish I could completely forgo powder, I simply cannot. Not just because of my skins oils, but for me it is a texture thing. I hate the feeling of tacky skin. However, since adding this Merit Flush Balm to my routine, I have found that it goes underneath and on top of powders absolutely beautifully.
How it lasts.
The other thing that I was pretty sceptical when it came to a cream blush is how long it would last on the skin. My main concern was that as with powder blushes, this would just wear off the skin incredibly quickly. When you pay for a higher-end product, you want it to last on the skin. However, I didn’t need to worry when it came to this Merit Flush Balm. The quality is beautiful, the colour pay off is fantastic and it lasts wonderfully all day long. I have even found that with this a little goes a long way because it has amazing staying power.
Would I recommend this?
If you have visited my site before, you may know that Merit is a brand that I have screamed about on many different occasions. I love the quality of their items and it is no different when it comes to this Merit Flush Balm. As you can probably see from this post, I would absolutely recommend this product. It is of amazing quality, it looks great on the skin and I adore using it. Over the last few months, I have mentioned this to so many people for them to get their hands on it for themselves. I truly adore this product.
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post about the Merit Flush Balm. It has become a fantastic part of my routine and I truly look forward to using this and seeing how it brings my makeup together. I never thought that I would be a cream kind of girly, but I truly am. The difference this makeup has been immeasurable, and I don’t think I will be quitting it any time soon. I think it took a great product like Merit Flush Balm to turn me into a cream girly because I have tried others over the years that just haven’t hit the mark the same.
