Over the years, I have shared here on my site about our many excursions around the world. As somebody that struggles with travelling due to my OCD, I recognise that travelling enriches me so much and I do all that I can in order to ensure that we venture overseas on a regular basis.
In todays post, I am going to share with you guys some of my favourite travel destinations in Europe. Sometimes, I feel incredibly blessed to like in the UK because we have the rest of Europe on our doorstep and flight times are only a few hours to some of the most wonderful places in the world. In this post I am going to break down my favourites and why…
Rome.
I had to start this post with Rome. If you have visited this site before, you will have heard me gush about this city. Growing up, I was obsessed with Roman history. Then as a young child, my dad took me there on holiday and I acted like the miniature family tour guide. Whether it is the artwork, the temperature, the architecture, the cobbled street, amazing, good, fantastic wine, gelato and so much more. I have visited Rome since a number of times and each time I fall even deeper in love with the city. I even get territorial over the city and insanely jealous whenever anybody else that I knows visits.
Paris.
A few years ago, it really clicked that from here in the middle of the UK, I could be in Paris in a little under 5 hours. The quick train to the centre of London and then the Eurostar can have me there in no time. Since then, I cant even count the number of times that I have gone there with my friends. Sometimes we opt to have a day in Paris rather than a day in London because there really is no fuss to the visit. Paris will always have my heart because it is the home to so many of the wonderful brands that I will never tire of spending my money on.
Skiathos.
Greece is without a doubt one of my favourite countries. When my husband and I started earning good money, we decided that we would try to tick off as many Greek islands as we possibly could. When I began to write this post, I wanted to try and narrow down my favourite Greek island and I couldn’t look past Skiathos. Even though there are some truly amazing places in Greece, I feel like Skiathos has everything that we need. Amazing beaches, fantastic food, not overly commercialised, not full of nobheads like Mykonos, not too hilly like Santorini. I could gush about Skiathos all day long, just know that I adore it.
Ibiza.
I am sure if you have visited this site before, you will know all about my deep love for Ibiza. Growing up here in the UK, I am sure that when you went on holiday with your parents as a child, you would have probably gone to Ibiza. Then as I got older, it was the place I went with my friends on my very first girls’ trip abroad. As the years have gone by, it continues to be a place that I visit and even throughout the different stages of my life, I manage to find what I need on the island. Whether it is a cheap and cheerful holiday, something lively with the girls or a holistic and relaxing break, Ibiza has it all.
South of France.
A couple of years ago, it seemed to be the trend for people to visit the South of France. Naturally, I wanted to go and see what all the hype was about. It didn’t disappoint. My husband and I got a quaint little hotel. It had amazing views of the rolling fields, the weather was perfect, there was amazing wine available and the odd beach club for when we fancied something a little more up tempo. It quickly became somewhere that got under my skin.
Florence.
The first time we went to Rome, we actually then hopped on the train and went to Florence. I had simply heard that it was a beautiful place, but I didn’t know all that much about it. The moment I stepped off the train, all that changed. I fell in love. Probably more so than I was already in love with Rome. You have those quintessential Tuscan things in Florence, but it feels slightly less commercialised than Rome. I have now visited Florence over 20 times and I know that it will continue to be somewhere that I visit time after time.
As always, I hope that you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about some of my favourite travel destinations in Europe. I honestly feel lucky that from leaving our home in Yorkshire, we are able to get to these destinations within a short period of time. That makes travel so much easier and more accessible for somebody like me that struggles to anxiety.
Please leave me a comment below and let me know what some of your favourite travel destinations are within Europe and we will add them to our travel wish list and hopefully visit them some day soon.
