It is time for another beauty review here on my blog and this time it is going to be all about the Dior Backstage Contour Palette. I can remember seeing the Dior Backstage range for the first time and I was head over heels in love with the collection and I wanted to purchase every single item. I decided that instead of spending hundreds of pounds on items that I had no idea about, I would bide my time and wait some time for the results to begin rolling in.
Little did I know that during that time when I was waiting, I would buy a house, suddenly grow up and stop buying half as much makeup. That is why I am now so many years down the line and only just getting around to trying this stunning Dior Backstage line.
Why I wanted this item.
I feel like these days, not all that many people contour as such because there are lots of different methods and tricks that you can do, whether it be reverse contouring or highlighting. Honestly, I am still very much on the hype of contouring my face and I have been doing so now for many years. I feel like whenever I don’t contour that my face is literally the size of the moon and that my head is as big as a beach ball. For the longest time I have just been using a deeper toned MAC Studio Fix Powder because it is a great shade for my tanned complexion and because it is meant to be a powder foundation the coverage is great and never goes patchy on the skin, but also because it is a foundation the pan size is huge.
The shades.
Straight away when you look at this Dior Backstage Contour Palette you can see that there are two highlighting shades and two contouring shades. I do kind of wish that they were individual pans because the chances of me using these at the same rate as one another is incredibly rare, but I also completely why they do it. Just glancing at this item, I can see that every single one of the shades in this palette is going to work well for me and the colouring in my skin. I also feel like I should mention that this is just a very beautiful item and I do think that it is important that when I am purchasing items with a higher price tag that they at least look like they deserve that cash to be spent on them!
The highlighters.
I want to start with the two highlighting shades because I really feel like these are the unsung heroes of this palette. When I first went to pick this item up, I wanted it simply for the deep contouring shades, but these have very quickly become the only two shades that I use to highlight my face with. I usually take my dainty Real Techniques brush and I just very lightly tap into both of the pans of product, I then very lightly go over the high points of my skin with this item to just bring a little glow to the skin. I always use highlighter sparingly anyway because I am never after the disco ball effect and I find that this item just really makes you look like you have a natural light to your skin and that is why I have found myself reaching for this.
The contour shades.
Now, time to move onto the contouring shades. What can I say about these other than that I love them so much and use them literally all of the time. I thought that the lighter of the two shades wouldn’t really get much use from me because I thought that my skin would be a little too deep for this, but I actually find that it is the perfect shade for a super subtle contour. Because of this, I like to use the lighter shade for when I am contouring my nose, shaping around my eyes or if I really want to go in and manipulate the shape of my face. I will then take my brush and use the deeper shade in the lower right corner when I simply want to really hallow an area of create some definition, such as under my jawline or underneath my cheekbone.
There honestly is not much more that I can say about this item that I have not already mentioned. I wish that I had got my hands on this and other items from the Backstage collection ever sooner because the quality is amazing, it lasts beautifully on the skin and it is so easy to work with. Honestly, I can see that this is going to be a contouring palette that I keep in my makeup collection for many more years to come. I will ensure to leave a link below to this item in case you would like to go ahead and try it out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this and what your thoughts were about the Dior Backstage Contour palette.
