Today I am going to be sharing a post with you guys all about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. For a long time, I would see this palette all over social media. It was the face palette that every beauty influencer at the time had to have. I used to think that at the time it was just for the aesthetics.

You cannot possibly look at this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette and dispute that it is completely beautiful. But that made me want to put it to the test. I wanted to get my hands on it and break down if the product is worth the money or if this style is over substance.

 

 

Why I wanted this palette.

I bought this Hourglass Ambient Lighting for two reasons. The first as I mentioned above is because I wanted to know if it was really worth it. Over the years there has been countless products that explode in popularity, and it makes me yearn to try it and put it to the test. The other reason is that recently I have been feeling like my makeup is lacking something. My complexion has been feeling rather flat and dull. However, I did recognise that all the products that I was using were completely matte. So, I wanted to add something that can add definition to my skin and make my complexion look more alive,

 

The shades.

When you look at this product on the Hourglass website, they have three different palettes ranging from Volume I, to Volume III. I do think that even though that is rather minimal, most people would be able to find a suitable palette for their complexion. They do also have these powders in individual compacts, but the shade range still remains vastly the same. The reason why I bought the trio palette is because I wanted to try a broader range of the shades that they have available for a reasonable price. Then if I was to love one specific shade from the trio, I would have purchased that individually. However, I love to take a mix of all three shades from the palette.

 

How I use this.

The thing to mention here is that there is a difference between a setting powder and a finishing powder. What I would class this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette as is a finishing powder. That is because I wouldn’t set my entire base with this powder. Once I apply my liquid or cream base products, I still go in with my trusty Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder to lock everything into place. Then I take this Hourglass Ambient Lighting on a big fluffy brush, and I buff that over the skin. You then get the wonderful pearlescent finish from the product, without it being solely responsible for locking the base down.

 

Would I repurchase?

I am sure that you guys will already be able to tell by this post, I would absolutely buy this again. I think the difference that it has made to my makeup is impactful. My skin looks airbrushed, smooth and completely flawless whenever I use this item. Because of that, whenever I don’t use this item, I can see a noticeable difference in my complexion. Even in future, I would buy the palette with a combination of the three shades because I think they’re good value for money compared to the individual items.

It has encouraged me to want to try out more by the brand. Next on my list, I really want to get my hands on Volume III, because I think it would be perfect for bronzing.
