If you guys have visited my site before, you may be aware of my deep love and adoration for Nars base products. My love first started many years ago with the Nars Sheer Glow. From there, I moved onto my all-time favourite foundation, the All-Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. It instantly became a new favourite of mine. However, Nars broke my heart and discontinued my favourite foundation and I have been on a mission ever since to find a replacement. One that rocks my world the way that the All-Day Luminous Weightless Foundation once did. Countless people told me to get my hands on the new Nars Light Reflecting Foundation. In the end, I did and now I have my thoughts to share with you.

Why I wanted this foundation.

As I mentioned above, years ago Nars pulled my favourite foundation from their range. I can remember sending them an emotive DM on Instagram to ask why I could no longer get it. They confirmed that they had removed it from their range and I sent them a heartbroken message. Obviously, they didn’t give a fuck. Since then, I have been on the hunt for the most perfect foundation to step into the big shoes left by that amazing product.

The coverage.

For me, this is a true medium coverage foundation. With one light layer you will be around a medium coverage. Freckles still peeking through, that kind of thing. However, you can easily build this up to be more of a medium-full coverage. I don’t think I have ever been able to get this to be a true, full coverage product. But I also don’t really want that either. I think for both an everyday basis and times when I want to be a little more glam, this is the ideal foundation.

The consistency.

What struck me straight away about this product is how thin it is. When I pumped some onto the back of my hand, it ran away and ended up all over my floor. I always get worried that a thin foundation means a light coverage, but that isn’t the case in this instance. I think that as you apply this Nars Light Reflecting Foundation it feels like no more than a BB cream. It feels amazing and so incredibly lightweight on the skin.

The staying power.

Whenever I am reviewing makeup, I always go into detail about the staying power. This is a massive issue for me. I need my makeup to last well, all day long. Usually, I apply my makeup at 7am in a morning and more often than not, I will need it to still be on place in an evening. It is a long ass time to have a full face of makeup on and there aren’t many makeup products that can keep up. However, after putting this Nars Light Reflecting Foundation through its paces I can say that it does the job fantastically well. I would even go as far to say that this is one of those products that looks better and better as the day goes on!

The shade range.

Nars have been known for a very long time for having a very good and comprehensive shade range. For as long as I can remember, Nars has been a brand that has championed having a wide range of shades with many different undertones. My shade varies pretty massively across Nars. During the winter months I am usually somewhere between Santa Fe and Stromboli. Then in the warmer summer months I sit around Barcelona and Syracuse. No matter what shade I wear, it always seems to settle on my skin perfectly and never oxidises.

How it compares to other items.

Recently, my go to foundation has been the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Foundation. Or the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation if I want something a little lighter. Both of those items are amazing, but when I think of this Nars Light Reflecting Foundation in comparison, there is a massive difference. For me, this Nars product ticks all of my boxes, whereas with the others, I feel like there are a few things that I would potentially change. I need to be honest and say that the Nars really does leave all of my previous foundations that I’ve been using in its wake.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post on the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation. It is a fantastic foundation that I have loved using. It has blown many of the other foundations in my collection out of the water. However, it isn’t quite the same as my all time favourite that Nars sadly discontinued. With that said, I have no intention on quitting this amazing product any time soon. It is the first liquid foundation in a long time that has truly blown me away. As always, I will pop a link to this item below for you to check out for yourself. Leave me a comment below and let me know if you have tried this out and what your thoughts were.

  1. Nars have such great base products, and I remember how much you loved the other foundation. I’m still sad for you that they discontinued it, it’s so sad when a fave gets the chop. This foundation sounds so dreamy, and it has gone straight onto my wishlist. Nars always nail foundations xx
