I cannot believe that this is the first time that I am sitting down to write about this product. Today I am finally going to chat to you guys about the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. Like so many people, I have been using and loving this powder for many years. With no sign of slowing down with it any time soon. Other setting powders certainly come and go in my life as something new comes onto the market.
But I always have one of these open in my makeup collection and I can guarantee you that I always have at least one back up in my stash, so that I am never without one. For so many people this is a cult beauty item and I wanted to let you guys know why!
Why I first bought this powder?
I feel like for many years, this is the face powder that everybody and their mother has been using. I think I first heard about this when I was only a teenager and from then it went on my wish list and I was desperate to get my hands on it and give it a whirl. Honestly, I will admit that in my younger days I did completely begrudge spending this much on a setting powder, which was essentially a clear item, but only after getting my first tub and beginning to use it, I realised that it is a completely necessary item and from that very moment I was hooked. I don’t even want to begin to think about how many of these I have burned through over the years because it must have cost me a fortune!
How it sets my makeup in place?
When it comes to any face setting powder, I am the kind of person that will just apply a light dusting of powder over the whole face. Because my skin has been going through a super awkward phase over the past couple of years, I can’t bake, and I also cannot pile the powder on in order to keep matte all day long. I like to take this on my big Real Techniques Powder Brush and I just generously set the face. Straight after application, it looks super matte on the skin, but as the day goes on and my natural oils begin to come through, it really helps to melt away the powder look and I am left with something that looks really smooth yet locked in place.
How long it lasts on the skin?
I have a pretty oily complexion. However as I am getting older, I have realised that I am getting slightly dryer. Because of this, I use a real mix of products on my skin in order to balance it out. It allows me to get a really smooth looking base. Whenever I put my makeup on in the morning, I need it to stay on place. It has to look flawless all day long, without worry. I find that with this setting powder, once it is on my face, it is locked in all day long. Normally when I wear this product I will sit down and apply at around 6am in the morning. It will still look perfect at 10pm when I am doing my skincare.
How is it compared with other products?
I know that by this point you guys may be bored of me mentioning this, but I find that it is so important in any blog post when it comes to base products and that is talking about how it pairs with other base items. I feel like when it comes to the base, there is so much that can go wrong with products, that could be separation and balling up. For this reason, I like to put all base items through the ringer and you better believe that I have certainly done that with this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder over the years. No matter what I have thrown at this powder, it works incredibly and always looks beautiful on the skin.
Would I repurchase?Â
I am sure that by this point in the blog post, it is easy for you guys to see that I adore this powder. Not only that, but I am going to be using this for many years to come. This Laura Mercier Translucent Powder has become a product that I always come back to. I may go away and take a break from it whilst I am trying something else out. However, I will always get my hands on this powder again. It just works flawlessly. You know for a fact whenever you use it what it is going to do the job that you want. Plus, it will do it incredibly well. Honestly, I even have one of those open in my makeup vanity at the moment and I have another in my drawer.
