I can remember a couple of years ago the internet blew up because of the Urban Decay Brow Blade. It was the new ‘it’ brow product and I was desperate to get my hands on it. I was sceptical because it was the first item that I had tried from Urban Decay in quite some time, and I didn’t know how it would perform. However, very quickly became one of my most used brow products within a matter of days.
After using it for some time, I thought that now was a good of time as any to finally sit down and share my review. Plus, I will compare it with some of the other popular brow items out there like Benefit Goof Proof, Dior Brow Styler and many more.
Â
Why I wanted this.
As I mentioned, the main reason why I wanted this is because everybody else seemed to have it. Not to mention they seemed to love it too. Everybody else seemed to throw out all of their existing brow products and this was the only item that they were using. I needed to know if it lived up to the amazing hype that had been buzzing around this product. What I look for in products tends to vary to other people. So I like to get hands on things for myself and give them a whirl.
Â
How I use it.
How I use the Urban Decay Brow Blade is very simple. Not to mention similar to how I always fill in my eyebrows. I take the standard pencil side of the product to fill in any sparse areas of my brows and really define the shape of them. Then once I am happy with that, I take the liquid pen side and draw in some individual brow hairs. This helps to make the brows look much more natural rather than just 2D things on my face. On days where I am in a rush, I will forgo the individual hairs just to get moving a little quicker.
Â
Compared to other brow items.
Since I started blogging, I have probably reviewed 50 different brow items. Whether it is powders, pencils, pomades, pens and everything else in-between. Generally speaking, there is very little that sets them apart. However every now and again there will be a stand out product that I become hooked on. I mentioned some of them above including the Benefit Precisely My Brow, the Refy Brow Kit and the Dior Brow Styler. When I think about the Urban Decay Brow Blade in comparison, the pencil is very similar. What the others lack is a liquid pen to get the individual brow hairs. However, I do have to say that I miss that the Urban Decay Brow Blade doesn’t have a spooly!
Â
The consistency.
When it comes to the pencil side of the Urban Decay Brow Blade, it really is nothing to write home about. It is a standard pencil that is not really any different. This makes it easy to use because it is just like any other brow product on the market. However, the consistency of the ‘blade’ end is different. If you were to swatch this on the back of your hand, it is quite a slick formula. This makes it easy to glide through the brow hairs and means that you can achieve very sharp and precise brow hairs.
Â
The staying power.
I always mention staying power when reviewing brow products. It is for no other reason than the fact that I need my brows on all day long. I can’t be working a 12-hour day in the office, look in the mirror at 5pm and half my brow be missing. I will admit that this was an early concern of mine. That first day when I used it and I saw how slick the pen side was, I for sure thought that it would move about. But once it is dry it isn’t going anywhere and I love that about this item. It looks just as good when I am taking my makeup off as when I first apply it.
I hope that you guys enjoyed this review of the Urban Decay Brow Blade. It is a product that I have thoroughly enjoyed using. When I do have a little longer to do my makeup and I reach for this, I always love how it looks. The only issues for me is that this is a more involved product and it adds an extra step to my already extensive makeup routine. But, if you are in the market for a general brow pencil with the addition of something more precise, this is the tool for you. It is easy to use, looks great and lasts incredibly well through the brows. As always, I will pop a link to this below for you to check out for yourself.
