Today I am going to be reviewing a cult classic product, the Elf Poreless Putty Primer. When this was first released, I saw instant similarities to the Tatcha Primer. The Tatcha was a product that I had wanted to try for a long time, but it was like rocking horse shit to get here in the UK.
So, when a dupe hit the market and it was a reasonable price, I had to get my hands on it. I am all for products that promise to perfect the skin and smooth your pores. It was a no brainer that I had to try this out. So, over the past few months, I have put this Elf Poreless Putty Primer through its paces, and I am ready to give you guys my full review on this item.
Why I wanted this item.
As I mentioned above, the main reason why I wanted this item was because I wanted the Tatcha alternative. I think you can now get Tatcha directly on the Space NK website here in the UK, which is amazing. But before it was available to purchase from there, I actually went to buy this similar primer from their website in the states. However, the product worked out around £60 and then the shipping was the same. Because of that I decided to forgo picking it up. Therefore, when I saw this Elf version in Boots, I picked it up instantly.

What Elf are doing in terms of dupes.
I have been seeing hell of a lot from Elf recently in terms of the dupes that they are creating. They seem to have took this straight from the hands of Tatcha. They do a glowy base product similar to the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. And so many more that I have not tried myself. I do love discovering a good dupe, especially when they are so much cheaper. However, I do have a problem when it comes to plagiarism. I am unsure where I feel like this sit. Is it simply a cheaper alternative, or have they copied a bestselling product?
Â
How I use this product.
When I use this product, I scoop a very small amount of it up on my ring finger. From there, I will work it into my skin. Simply in the areas that I believe need a little smoothening. I don’t go in with hordes of product because it simply isn’t needed. Plus, I do find that you are better to go in with thin multiple layers rather than go in very heavy to begin with. But I guess that is the same when it comes to all makeup products. Once it is on the skin, I will then give it a few seconds to sink in before going in with makeup over the top.
Â
The effect on the skin and makeup.
As I mentioned, I apply this product mainly around my nose where my pores are on the larger side. Even before I go in with makeup, I can see the smoothing affect that this does to the skin. Then when I go in with my makeup over the top of this Elf Poreless Putty Primer is where the real magic happens. Thanks to this primer, my skin looks as smooth as a baby’s bum. You wouldn’t even think that I have pores once I have applied this. I began just packing this product into the area that I had enlarged pores, but for a true flawless base I will use this throughout.
Â
How it lasts on the skin.
Every time I write a review, I say the same thing. Even if a product is beautiful, if it doesn’t last all day, I’m not going to use it. When I put my makeup on at around 6am in a morning, I need to be confident that it is going to last until at least 7pm at night. It is a big ask, but I have tried and tested products that can confidently do that. I can confidently say that when it comes to this Elf Poreless Putty Primer, it does the job fantastically well. I never have to worry about my makeup failing when I have this on.
Â
Would I recommend this product?
I am sure that you guys can already tell from this review, but I would absolutely recommend this. This has really improved the way that my skin looks under my foundation. That alone makes it a clear winner in my book. But then combine that with the fact that this is a drugstore product. Not only that but this one little tub of product has lasted me for the best part of 6 months. I have reached a point when it comes to this product where I can really tell if I am not wearing it. And I long to be wearing it again!
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this review on the Elf Poreless Putty Primer. This has become an engrained product in part of my makeup routine. I don’t think there has been a day over the past few months where I haven’t opted to use this primer. For the price, the amount of product that you get and the quality, I don’t think you can go wrong. If you are on the market for a new primer, take a look at the Elf Poreless Putty Primer. As always, I will pop a link to this product below for you to check out for yourself. Leave me a comment below and let me know if you have tried this out for yourself or if you would like to get your hands on it.
