I am a sucker for a good city break. Often here on my site, I have said that I love living in the UK because there aren’t that many places that seem too far away. With that said, my husband and I try whenever we can to hop on a plane and take a trip. Sometimes we book a Friday off work and then we just take off. European breaks only take us a few hours to get to and then we are good to go. So, in this post I figured that I would sit down and break down the best of the best city breaks!
New York.
There is no denying that from here in the UK, New York is a fair hike away. However, with the time difference and strategically timed flights, you can fall on a good weekend away. Since I visited New York for the first time, I have fallen in love. I don’t think that I have ever been somewhere that I think matches my energy in a greater way. I continue work hard so that one day I can buy a place in the West Village and flit between the UK and NYC.

Paris.
The first time I went to Paris with my husband, the city left a bitter taste in our mouths. We went an unfortunate time, after a freak snowstorm. I think we got off on the wrong foot, but so did the people of Paris. It was rude, uncomfortable and it didn’t allow the city to shine its best light. But I went back. Different circumstances, different areas and I fell in love. All of a sudden, I was head over heels and now I thank my lucky stars that it is just a quick train ride away.
Â
Rome.
You guys should know all about my love of Rome by now. I don’t even know how many times I have spoken about this destination before, but it is a place that I will never tire of talking about. Out of this entire list, if I could move to one place, it would undoubtedly be Rome. Full of history, culture, amazing food, attractive people and so much more. At this stage, it is like a home away from home and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Â
Amsterdam.
I first went to Amsterdam a few years back when I was a guest of some brands for their fashion shows. It was so exciting, and I can instantly remember feeling incredibly safe. Having been to many cities around the world, it is often rather overwhelming, but I don’t know why, I simply felt safe and calm in Amsterdam. Plus, the food there was without a doubt, some of the best food that I have ever eaten.
Â
Lisbon.
For a long time, my husband would badger me about wanting to go to Lisbon. As I looked into it, I didn’t see much that really turned my head about the place. But I booked it for one of these birthdays and I can honestly say that it is one of the most beautiful places that we have ever been. The main thing with Lisbon is that in comparison to the other places that I have mentioned above, it is incredibly chilled.
Â
Dublin.
For me, Dublin is the place there I go with the girls. From here in the UK, my flight time to Dublin was around 30 minutes. We were honestly on the runway longer than we were in the air. Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t loads to do in the centre of Dublin, other than the Guiness factory and then Temple Bar. It is a place for heavy drinking and that is why it is a place that I often travel with my friends. It’s cheap to get there and then you have the best time!
As always, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and learning more about the city breaks that I love. It is never lost on me how fortunate I am to have travelled to the places that I have been. As a kid that didn’t get to leave the country much, I can remember sitting and longing for a day that I could see different places. There is nothing that quite compares to the beauty of getting to travel and if you have the means, I couldn’t recommend it more. As always, leave me a comment below and let me know some of your favourite city breaks around the world.
