Recently I have shared that I am trying with all my might to improve my skincare routine. Generally speaking, I am a lazy woman when it comes to skincare, but I am trying to get better. I think the closer that I inch to the big 3-0, the more I realise that it is now time to start amping things up. With that said, I have implemented a few things that I do each morning and I figured that I would share the steps of my skincare routine with you guys. This is simple products, used in a straightforward way that help to put my skin in the best possible position for a new day.

Step 1 – Cleanser

The first thing that I am going to mention in this post has to be cleanser. I can remember there was a period in time when I didn’t cleanse my skin after waking up in a morning and honestly just to think about it, my toes curl. You need to get all the grime off your skin from sleeping and I always feel like a new woman and ready to start my day once I have freshly cleansed skin.

Step 2 – Toner

Love it or hate them, I always use a toner. Just like most other people, I don’t know if they actively make a difference to my complexion, but I am going to continue to use them. After cleansing, I take just a few shakes of my Ren AHA Toner and pat that gently into the skin. Then once I am finished, I give it just a minute to sink into the skin before moving onto the next item.

Step 3 – Serum

This was a step that I skipped for a super long time until I invested in the Augustine Bader x Victoria Beckham Serum. It was actually a fellow blogger that recommended that I add a serum into my routine because it is a serum that hydrates the skin after stripping it with cleansing. Since adding this, I feel like my skin simply looks much healthier and more plump and that is always the aim.

Step 4 – Moisturiser

Each morning, I feel like my skin is thirsty and because of that I like to go in with a thick ass layer of moisturiser. My go to item for many years has been the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and I know that I will continue to use that for many years to come. This hydrated my skin like no other moisturiser that I have ever used and it sits perfectly well under my makeup.

Step 5 – Eye Cream

Some people dispute if eye cream is a myth or not and if it actually makes a noticeable difference. However, if they are selling it and I can get a product for a reasonable price, I am going to add it to my collection. For years, I have flicked between the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Cream and the Ole Hendriksen Banana Eye Bright Cream. Both are nice and help to make my under eyes look smooth and hydrated.

Step 6 – SPF

With age comes a deep appreciation for SPF. I want to prevent any sun damage on my skin and because of that I hide my face from the sun at every possible eventuality and lather myself in SPF. My favourite has to the La Roche Posay, simply because it is a small handy tube that I can put in my makeup bag and I always feel like it works beautifully underneath my makeup.

Step 7 – Lip Balm

Regardless of the time of year, I have dry ass lips. No matter what, I need to lather my lips up in high quality lip balms that are going to keep my lips nice and hydrated. My favourite has to the good old Vaseline tube calm, or if I am feeling slightly fancier, I will opt for my Summer Fridays. When times are really tough and my lips feel like they could crumble from my face, it is a job for straight up Lano.

As always, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post about my morning skincare routine. I mentioned in the beginning of this post that it is simple used, used in a simple manner. If I tried to implement a 3000-step skincare routine that was too busy, I know that I would skip it. By keeping things simple, I can ensure that I keep at it. Truth be told, I am seeing some fantastic, noticeable differences on my skin and long may it continue. As always, I would love to hear from you guys in the comments below. What steps do you do during your morning skincare routine?
